Another Video...

Recommended Posts

i've been saying in HF Chat that Nakhla is ridiculously easy to pack and really hard to mess up....so, i made this video demonstrating that statement.

in the end there's 5 canarys on the bowl, but the canarys are pretty much burned down to about half...soooo, yeah. i wouldn't recommend putting 5 whole ones on there...i think that's about equivalent to 3 canarys and a windcover....maybe.

i'm not saying this is the best way to pack nakhla. just showing that nakhla can smoke well without even trying. enjoy!

rin has some commentary on there too... smile.gif

nice video arcane, it really helps to show people that nakhla is one of the easiest shishas to smoke.

one suggestion though. i noticed that you used 4 coconut coals, which is a little to much for my taste.
here is how i smoke nakhla with cocos:

that way the heat doesn`t escape and the bowl heats up faster, making a windcover unneccesary.

actually, its about 5 halves of canarys, as stated in my first post (sooo, 2.5 canarys total?)....i think that's a lot less heat than 4 cocos.

with your method, do you not move the coals at all? Edited by Arcane

i only watched the video and the coals looked a bit like cocos. never tried golden canarys, so i can`t comment on that.

nope, i only flip them over after a while. other than that there is no need to move anything.

nice vid arcane.

Is that how you actually like to pack it an egyptian?

I know you said the video was to demonstrate how easy nakhla is to smoke, just wondering if that's how you always pack it?

Because now that i pack in a phunnel i get way better sessions. I give the credit to the bowl, allowing me to pack it tighter.

So i was wondering if you have ever tried putting your finger in the middle of the bowl, packing tight around your finger to mimic the phunnel. Then just do exactly what you did in the video, but with less tobacco and dropping it in the middle to help maintain good airflow.

I have been doing this when smoking with my egyptian and is has improved my sessions dramatically.

Once again, not implying anything, i could see from the video those clouds would start to build after a bit. I have just noticed in my experience the more nak you pack the quicker and easier it is to produce big clouds. People always say that you can't get big clouds from nak but it's because the egyptian doesn't allow the user to pack it tight enough.

So do you pack it this way?

If so def try the finger in the middle of the bowl method and let me know what you think.

props on the video.

actually, the only times i've packed nakhla like this was when i was waaay to lazy to find a fork or when i was too tired to care...haha. and i guess for this demonstration. i just wanted to put up this video, because i've been telling FJ that its possible to get Nakhla to smoke well if you just dump tobacco in the bowl. also, i wanted to show that its really hard to mess up Nakhla...you should've seen the holes...haha.

basically, the techniques i did involved no skill whatsoever...and that bowl smoked great after about 3 minutes...sooo, yep. Nakhla is King!

my normal method is just forking it into the bowl till its over the rim....then foiling, using the the foil to push down the tobacco. basically, i try to get it as dense as possible without hindering airflow. i'll try your method, but i gotta find something to pack around...because in normal circumstances, my fingers usually never touch the tobacco.

edit: i pack my phunnel like you, mattar...except i use a fork to get the tobacco in the bowl. Edited by Arcane

gotcha

yeah i switch between my fingers and a fork, depends on what i'm in the mood for. If i don't want my hands getting sticky i use a fork.

And sometimes i feel you get a better feel for the tobacco when you use your hands.

So it all depends on what i'm feeling.

did you get my package yet?

So, I've found AF 50g packs to be less quality then a larger tub. Is Nahkla the same? Since I finally tried Nak (due to the forum ravings), packed basically an entire 50g of Banana into a medium phunnel, tangiers style, and got shit.

Could only use a small amount of coal, which got a nice flavor, but no smoke.

sometimes i have found the 50g to be lesser quality than 250 but not often. Even with the lower quality (i think they are just older from sitting around so long) you should still be able to get monster clouds, flavor may just be lacking.

50g in a medium phunnel sounds way under packed which would cause the good flavor but no smoke.

Now i am not totally sure you under packed b/c every phunnel is a diff size. But i fit 25-35g of nak in my mini so 50g in a medium sounds under packed.

You want to dump a ton of shisha in the phunnel then press it down so it is tightly packed right up to the rim, mizo can be under packed and still smoke great because of the juices, but if you want ultimate clouds with OG you need to pack it pretty damn tight. Also OG loves heat, on my mini i use 2 cocos cracked in half (4 halves) + a windcover and the clouds are monsterous.

follow my nakhla tutorial but if you are using og i recommend packing it to the rim rather than below the rim like i did in my tutorial (i was using mizo)

if you still have trouble after a couple of attempts i'd be more than glad to make a tutorial for og.

lemme know and goodluck.

just re-read your message again and you said you packed it tangiers style ... does that mean you packed it tight?

what kind of coals are you using?

and why could you only use a little coal? did it get harsh if you added more?
