delSol_si
So I was really looking forward to having a beer tonight. I am a Bud Light fan myself. I went to wally world and they were all out except for 20 pack bottles and 24 pack cans and I didn't want that much plus they were a bit old. I drove around to find another place and couldn't find one. I went back to wally world and got the 20 pack bottles and when I went to check out, they wouldn't sell it to me! They said they can't sell alcohol after 1am! Fuck me I am pissed. I went to a gas station on the way home and they told me the same thing. I usually don't get pissed over alcohol like this, but I just wasted an hour or my time and don't get my beer This kinda thing happen to anyone else? Vampy6997
The state gov'ts could make a pretty penny off 24 hr full blown liquor/alcohol/wine/beer sales, and just add on 5% extra tax to all those things. but idk.i agree, those tax restrictions are lame. Here it's no alcohol on sundays (to bring home) however you can go to a bar, which means it's ok to drink and drive. wtf?!!!
Jeff_T
That's interesting, I know in AZ its no sales after 2am. I've def been to placed around 1:45/1:50 and got booze. Also, in AZ most places sell liquor and beer/wine in the same store, much more convenient that a lot of other states. I think the only Sunday law is no sales before 10am, but I don't even know if thats true. Never really tried to purchase that early on a Sunday... Rani
The limit is 2:00 a.m. in California, and after that you can't buy it anywhere - not even at the grocery store. Nobody has ever completely explained the reason for these laws though. I know the one on election day and that's actually kinda logical...... But why the cutoff at a certain time? To be certain we all have some time to sober up before starting up again at 6:00 a.m. or something?'Rani
MechAnt
My area is quite unique.Santa Barbara and Goleta serve/sell till 2am but in the community that we college students live in, Isla Vista, a legislation passed that doesn't allow sales past 12am. It blows
Jeff_T
That's pretty weird Mech, do you think the legislation is there because of the college atmosphere?

I think the government needs to back off and not wipe our asses and hold our hands for us. If we want to get plastered at 6am, that is our choice, not theirs. I don't need someone telling me when I can and cannot buy alcohol. If I had a job, I don't need someone telling me I can't drink or be drunk before I go to work. Ya, its a bad idea to do it, but that is my choice to make (not that I do). On another note, I was soo pissed last night. I went to the Fiddler on the Roof muni and then got home, chatted with my parents, then went out to get some beer. It was 10 min till 1am, so I knew I had to hurry. I made it to the gas station at 2 min till 1am and they refused to sell it to me!!! AND, I had driven through a heavy storm to get there. I explained to them that I still had 2 min before 1am, but they still wouldn't sell it to me. What sucked to is the guy has JUST blocked off the alcohol area as I was walking in, I saw him moving the cone. Assholes...

People will insist on driving drunk as the continuing arrests for DWI prove. Sooooooo, do we want them on the road drunk at say 1:00 a.m. when a fair number of people are still driving around? Or coming home drunk closer to 4:00 a.m. when there's almost nobody on the road but them? It certainly seems it would be safer to sell then, doesn't it?'Rani

Not to mention the guy at the liquor store told me I could go down town to the bars and get a beer. How silly is that? You can't buy the beer, take it home, and drink it in the safety of your own home. But, you can drive to a bar, get drunk, and then drive home. Stupid laws. plymouthshisha
Come to England. The country is in a hole of political correctness and is turning into a nanny state......but you can buy beer 24hours a day. Lol
tinyj316
In Oregon you can get beer and wine pretty much anywhere up until midnight, but the liquor stores close at 8pm sharp. The bars close at 2:00-2:30 depending on the county, with last call at 1:50...
coplinb
GNR is right, here in Michigan you cant buy beer before noon. Thats a little odd seeing as how you can buy beer at 6 or 7 am any other day of the week. What pisses me off though is there is no alcohol sales on Christmas at all, same goes for Easter I think. Didnt Jesus turn water into wine? I need some beer when I visit the in-laws for the Holidays!
