In my limited expertise... Try a second coal or splitting the single
coal into 2 parts. Lack of heat can result in weak flavor and smoke.
You'll know if you get it too hot smile.gif

yeah your throat starts burning and you wanna chug ice water lol

you gotta expirence with your bad girl. you gotta know the limits so stack the coals on the bowl to know when it's too much so you'll never do it again. it takes time. i dont think it's the tobacco. also check to make sure there is no air leaks.

Seeing as you're using Nakhla, there's no need to keep the tobacco away from the foil: quite the opposite in fact. Try breaking up the clumps of Nakhla in the packet then piling the tobacco into your bowl so its actually a little bit above the rim. Use the foil to push it down to below the rim, before pulling the foil tight, poke holes, then add heat (dont be scared to add it as it can take a lot). You could try adding half a QL at a time (5 mins between) to avoid overheating. There are lots of good nakhla packing videos but the above has always worked for me.

Your problem sounds like its directly related to heat management.

Add an extra coal, make more holes in your foil, try to take a hit out of your hose when it is not connected to the hookah, and see if you are getting an odd taste there.
