kwkate
While on vacation to see my family, I left my hookah at my apartment, forgetting to pour out the water. When I returned and tried to put it back in the box, the stem broke off. My friend cemented it back on for me to fix it. Now, recently after moving, my hookah, somehow re-broke. Any suggestions how I can fix it? The local hookah shops will only sell whole hookahs and not just a stem. Is there any way to fix my hookah without needing to buy a new one? Please...any suggestions help and are very appreciated!!

foibled again
In my experience, hookahs are brazed and not welded as many are said to be. If you are handy with a torch (butane and propane works but MAPP is better), you should be able to rebraze the pieces (I've done it but more for cosmetic reasons). Make sure to clean the surfaces thoroughly with a wire brush and immediately apply flux to limit the formation of oxides before and during heating. You should also use a lead free brazing alloy/hard solder. Silver alloys work well and are lead free, but be careful not breathe in fumes because they often contain cadmium. If you are brazing stainless steel, it is considerably harder to wet due to the chromium oxides that are formed in low oxygen environments so a special flux should be used. Those are typically HCl or boric acid based and are marketed for use with stainless steels. It will make the process easier to manage if the pieces are pre-tinned as well. If corrosion due to water exposure is a concern, a nickel based brazing alloy would be a better choice.
ryno
If its just the downstem, JB Weld should work. I recently got a hookah with a broken downstem, used J Weld, and not only has it held, its sealed too
