liquidglass
Well guys I just got a shipment today of tangiers (always awesome Eric!) and a few boxes of Exoticas from Hookah-shisha.com. Right away I noticed something was different with the boxes of exoticas. 1) They felt heavier than another box I have (both completely full)2) They have a slightly new design (pics later) - New design: one side of the box has a much larger Exotica Imports logo with "imports" written in in white font with red outlining. So I was wondering what was going on with this new, improved, box of exoticas, hoping for the best, but expecting the same from my last few boxes which after Mushy mentioned it I compared them to a really old box I have and the quality of them had degraded. I opened my tangiers put em out and all that jazz, and then I started cutting up some of the new exoticas just to see if more than the box had changed. And I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing I noticed about the new coals was that they were much more dense than the recent boxes I had, which means I couldn't break them with my hands (not exactly weak either) and they just felt dense, the texture of them was incredibly better than the other coals I had, which felt porous and light. Next, I noticed my knife didn't cut right through them like the most recent ones, it just scratched them, much like I was originally used to with exoticas. Although I will say breaking them wasn't as much of a challenge after they were scored on one side as I expected.BUT THEN, the most redeeming quality of all. How they burned. I lit one side by side with one of the older ones and Mushy was right! The older ones had tons of brown ash, the NEW exoticas were...wait for it....white ash! Just like they used to be. I'm smoking them right now, they smoke great and seem to be lasting longer (could just be in my head) but overall the quality has def. improved from this evidence IMO. So keep your eyes open try a box out and see what you think!
xpimpitox
Nice! I have 2 full boxes but I burn through them so quickly it won't be long before I order another 3 pack along with some more Tangiers. Been trying to clean up the stash so make room for more since me and my friends have been smoking on a daily basis for the past month or so. Hopefully I'll get these new and improved Exoticas as the ones I got last had the old box design but the newer box I just opened up 2 days ago seemed to be of better quality than the one I finished late last week. Post them pics!
phantastik
Hooray! I agree with you, these new batches are amazing. The easiest tool i've got to cut these exoticas are wire cutters, i score where i want the cut, then then i use the wire cutters to cut, perfect and effortless every time! Stuie
awesome. I was thinking about grabbing a box of them and the new goldens to compare them to each other. But now I have no reservations ordering them.

mushrat
well, cool. I'll believe it when I see it. i have some with a new design on the box and they are ashing BROWN> I'll be ordering a few more cases today so I'll see if my supplier has any new shipments in. He said he spoke with the guys at exotica and passed on my complaint along with some other's he'd received. Looking foreward to trying them. We still have the old hack saw in the back we used to use. Giant Ninja Robot
hmmm. at any rate does anyone know if H-S honors the forum disco with their value packs? I know some places don't.
mattarios2
I believe they do not GNR, but not positive.I am pretty sure back in the day if memory serves me right I ordered a tangiers value pack and they denied me of the discount.
ColibriDon
I've only tried these once and the ash wasn't white at all, looked like brown dirt. For a thread jack, do you guys just split these in half and put both halves on the bowl? I couldn't figure out how to use these damn things to save my life so I just cut them in thirds and went to town.

liquidglass
Glad I could help guys, hopefully this trend continues but it has been a LONGGGGG time since I haven't seen brown ash or had a tougher time breaking them.I'm going to get pics of the boxes side by side and one old (brownie) and one new coal lighting side by side to see if you can see the difference. Not exactly scientific so you might end up with a few uneven pieces but it works.
Svaals
As far as I know, value packs are included in your discount at HS. I always order other stuff, too, though.
Sonthert
It could be old stock, it could be a temporary manufacturing problem or short-term reduction of quality by the manufacturer...it could be exactly what Mushy said. Why did I post this again? Oh yea, glad you got something you're pleased with, LG, thanks for the kind Tangiers words, man.
