delSol_si
So I finally found a decent deal...I think! I found a guy that is selling what he claims to be second gen 36" AF hookahs. What do you guys think they are worth? I am probably going to pick one up for myself, but last time I talked to him he said he had 4, so I was thinking about picking up a couple extras and selling them on here if you guys would like. THIS IS NOT A GROUP BUY!!!! I am going to pay for them with my own money, and then resell them in the trades section if I get any interest.Ringsmaster, here is the response i was going to type in the trades section to you, but didn't want to jack scoops thread anymore:No problem. I finally got a response from the guy. I think I am going to go ahead and just buy two of them regardless. From the sounds of it they are going fast...I asked if I could come pick them up on the 19th when I get back to school and he said he would hold on to one for me. So, I think I am just going to try to make the trip down there this weekend instead and pick them up or see if I can have him hold two. What do you guys think? How much are they worth? Would anyone be interested in purchasing one? If so, how much would you be willing to pay? I am not trying to raffle them off or anything like that. The only reason I am not stating a price here is A. I am not trying to sell them right now B. I am going to try to bargain with the guy and need to know how much to try to get him down to C. this is not a for sure thing and D. I am trying to figure out how much I should offer himReally, I would like to know how much you guys think these are worth and if I am going to get ripped off here or not. Here is HIS picture:Again, this is NOT an offer to sell, this is strictly hypothetical for now. I wasn't even planning on doing this until Ringsmaster was getting upset about maybe not being able to buy scoops AF hookah. Also, is this truly a second gen AF hookah? I am not familiar with them. Oh, and he claims they are new in box. Thanks for you help guys!
redjako
Doesn't look any different from the present generation:http://www.alfakheronline.com/AF_Large_Solid_Hookah.htmHowever, be wary of whether its a light / medium stem vs the Solid stem (pictured above).Just compare the retails, and pick up some I spose. delSol_si
Ya, I don't really understand the generations thing with AF or anything else for that matter, like I said, I am not familiar with them in the least bit. Of course, this does not come with all the stuff that AF gives you with it. It is ONLY the stem, bowl, and vase. No hose, coals, shisha, tips, or anything, not even sure if they come with tongs or not. I personally don't need more than one pair of tongs myself anyway though. Is $60 an ok price to pay? Hippo_Master
Those are 2 different styles, I don't know the "gens" cause those titles were just given to them is this thread basically... But I have one when they first came out, and if I was to find another one I wouldn't hesitate paying at least 100 bucks shipped. The newer ones are obviously rounded off in appearance, but the older ones have that really nice cut appearance - and you can't buy them unless you make a private purchase in most cases, unless you get lucky. If there were collectible hookahs, this would for sure be one of them. Also an older Amer... mmm.
Giant Ninja Robot
hippo is right the heart is completely different. you may have gotten lucky and found some "new" first gens? I dunno.I feel like n00b

delSol_si
QUOTE (hartwell778 @ Aug 4 2009, 09:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>He was selling those for 50 on stl's craigslistYa, I just quoted 60 because it was going to cost me 30 bucks in gas to get them(would be a 400 mile drive for me), plus I wanted to factor in shipping supplies cost. Would need to buy lots of peanuts, air popping stuff, and other stuff, would rather over quote and reduce the price later than to under quote and up the price later. Figure if I said 60, and it turned out to only cost 50 or 55 after everything was said and done, then it would just make everyone that much happier when I told them it was going to cost less. But, I think it may be a scam unfortunately . I got an email from the guy with his phone number. He told me to give him a call and we would arrange meeting in town somewhere for the exchange. I called him today and got some pissed off irate woman yelling at me and acting like I was the worst person on earth trying to scam her or fuck her over or something and then told me to "never call this number ever again" fucking bitch. I don't deserve that kind of disrespect. People dial wrong numbers all the time, its a fucking fact of life. And no shit I am not going to call again, why the fuck would I call again if it was the wrong number?? Ya, ok, it was wrong the first time, lets try again and maybe it will be the right number! /end sarcasm. I hope she heard me call her a fucking bitch before I hung up. I don't have a tolerance for disrespectful people. I really wish I would have said "a simple no would suffice" but was too pissed off with her so I just said thanks and hung up. lol, i was really tempted to call her back just to give her a piece of my mind, but decided against it.So, I will try to email the guy again and see if maybe he gave me the wrong phone number or whats up, but this is looking less hopeful. The last time I tried to email him directly, he didn't respond, so I am wondering if he has a filter on his inbox and my email address is going to the trash...Oh, and hartwell, did you try to contact him??? I you can get ahold of him, let me know so I can buy whatever he has left.

delSol_si
Update: I got an email back from the guy with the following message:QUOTE Hey xxxxx, sorry about that. My number is xxx-xxx-xxxx I still have 4 and friday would work out good for me as well. Thanks, XXof course, I edited out his phone number for obvious reasons, I don't think I would appreciate someone posting my phone number on a forum. I think I should show him the same courtesy. So, I will give it another try tomorrow and see how it goes.
Giant Ninja Robot
fingers crossed. i don't think it would be inappropriate given the distance to ask for some more specific pics exact to your description to make sure he's telling the truth. Cause if I drove that far and got screwed someone would get punched in the face.

It is back in the town I go to college. I need to go down there to apply to a couple jobs and such, plus an old friend i haven't seen in a couple years is going to be in town and I want to see him, so its not a complete waste if it doesn't work outI did call him and its looking more hopeful, he said to give him a call when I get into town and he would meet me at the local walmart with the hookahs.
