Uhh Headache..

So I got new Tobacco from a friend. (Cleopatra Tobacco, I've read its not the best but I was out of tobacco)And I usually get starbuzz. During the session everything was okay. But after I got a headache..Really sucks. Is it the tobacco? I get headaches on my friends Stargate but never have on mine and we always use Starbuzz. And I dont think my friend cleans his hookah and I thought that was the problem. Haha. So do you guys know so I can prevent it from happening again. Edited August 4, 2009 by Matchew

When you smoke an unwashed tobacco, make sure you have a glass of water and some food nearby. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the session. You're probably getting buzzed from the nicotine.

That happens to me alot, on all sorts of different hookah tobacco. I think its because your smoking too much of it way too fast. When you get that relaxed feeling when you start smoking your, dont hit it for another 5 minutes or so lest you go from relaxed to tense and lightheaded to just another bad headache. Just like drinking, when smoking hookah you have to pace yourself.

Weird, never gotten a headache before but I've gotten "hookah drunk" where I feel like my legs are jello and I can lay in bed and melt into the covers and sleep like a baby

Well, I am guessing my headaches are from the nicotine. I don't use any other tobacco product except shisha. Plus, I have noticed that if I smoke every day I don't get the headache, but if I smoke one day, and then quit, I get them. Plus, when I went to K1024' hookahfest, I smoked layalina, AF, Tangiers, and Nakhla and got a tremendous headache afterward but we smoked a ton of baccy. Plus, I don't usually get the headache until after the session is done.

You think it is the nicotine scoop or is there someone else wrong? I am not trying to argue with you at all, if you think someone else is wrong I'd really like to know.

Sometimes I forget I have a really high tolerance of nicotine....its like Nakhla runs through my veins lol (And yes that is a good thing). As everyone is saying its prob. the Nicotine. You can build your tolerance by smoking more and more unwashed tobacco (Smoke more Nakhla lol). But yea everybody has their own tolerance level. I can handle Nakhla Zaghloul which is very strong, but my lungs are like dead the next day haha. If you drink alot of water during the session and take it slow you should be fine tho.

honestly i get headaches from CO.

if im smoking indoors and more than 1 hookah is going, i almost always get a headache from CO. depends on the charcoal you use as well.

That isn't normal as scoop said, your body should get used to the nicotine over time so it def isn't the nicotine causing the problem.

I will sometimes get a headache after my all day sessions on the weekend. Usually a couple of advil takes care of it but it's pretty rare nowadays.

the last time i got an actual headache (not a buzz) was a 6 hour smoke session, 3 bowls of Tangiers and 1 Nakhla, switched out every 1-1.5 hours, with only 2 cans of soda to drink...

i think it was mostly just dehydration...but, yeah...hydrating would be a good thing...

My friend gets a headache EVERY time he smokes unwashed tobacco. I have no idea why because I never do. The worst I've felt was a little nauseous. But that's only cuz I wasnt hydrated and drunk, lol (Side note: drinking and smoking hookah /= good combination). But he complains of a headache and feeling REALLY tired after and even during every session. He can do washed, but just can't do unwashed. He's usually drinking water or eating something during the session so I have no idea what's going on. He did have a major head injury while at school though. Does anyone know if that could cause it? I'm talking serious head injury though:

3 skull fractures, brain swelling, etc.

might also be CO poisoning, but if he can handle washed tobacco...i doubt that it's the case...

I smoke in a variety of areas. When I am at school, I either smoke in the smoking lounge or outside. Or, sometimes when my roommate and I go to a buddies house, we smoke on his screened in back porch or his basement.

The main reason I think it is nicotine for me is that when I was in school in the spring, I would smoke 2-3 times a week or so and never had any headache problems until I cut down to like once a week, and then if quit for a week or so I would get a headache. Now that it is summer and I am living at my parents, I have smoked an entire like 3-4 times in the past 3 months and pretty well everytime I smoke I get a headache. The bigger the session, the bigger the headache. But then when I was at K1024s hookahfest, we smoked for several hours and pretty heavily and I got a tremendous headache, which scared me a bit...

Do you have any suggestions?

yes ive found that when i slow down my smoking, like when i smoke nakhla, and drink some kind of fluid, i prefer arizona iced tea lol, and maybe even eat some chips or something my buzz goes away

yes you can, i've had it a few times with bad coals when i just started smoking. and you have to make sure that you drink enough water so your body can flush it out.
a painkiller afer or during every hookah session is a bad idea. eventually you'll build up a tolerance to them and your liver won't like it either.

If you light those coals indoor, you will probably get a headache..light then on a porch or bbq or something.

If you pull and pull and pull, half the time its your lack of oxygen giving you troubles.

If I'm hung over and smoking I could get even more degydrated, giving myself a very bad migraine...chug some water.
