Uhh Headache..

Recommended Posts

Hmm...thanks for all the helps guys, and thanks Mattchew for starting this thread. I am starting to think a lot of it might have to do with the lack of oxygen or maybe that I inhale a bit of the fumes from the coal lighting. Or maybe a combination of all three. I will experiment when I get back to school.

There are like three things that can cause a headache from smoking hookah. I'm no medicalician here, so take what I say with an aspirin. smile.gif

1) Drying of the sinus cavities in the head. Glycerine likes to absorb water. It can dry out your sinus cavities from smoking a lot.

2) Carbon monoxide. Smoking a lot indoors with charcoal that puts off lots of CO can cause oxygen deprivation in your body...how it causes a headache, I don't know. Probably from involuntary muscle contractions in your head.

3) Nicotine/caffeine excess. Similar, but the reaction of nicotine/caffeine in the body can cause a tensing of your head muscles which start to hurt. Alcohol can intensify the effects.

I smoke Tangiers, drink lots of caffeine and use Canary Golden Charcoals and the only time I get headaches is when the humidity goes up and the tobacco is smoking like a monster, big puffy clouds. Almost always when its dry out already. I assume, for me, its number 1. Your mileage may vary. Dealer destination charges extra. I raely get headaches and I attribute this to using Golden charcoals. Using other charcoals, I have had problems. When smoking other brands (washed ones), I occasionally get a light headache, but not too major. There may be a hidden 4th option that includes what some companies put in their tobacco, that I don't put in Tangiers. What the additives are, I don't know.
