maverickman
Hey all, I promise I searched to find other threads on this, but I didn't see any (maybe I missed 'em). So here goes:I have a three-hose, machine-made, 24", Chinese hookah that has served me very well over the past 8 months. I thoroughly intend to continue using it, especially if by myself (which is rare) or with only one other person. However, three hoses simply is not enough for the number of people I have smoking it sometimes, and I also simply want to trade up. So I'm looking for a 4-hose (6 is too many) Hookah that is taller (29" to 34"). My understanding is that taller can (though not necessarily) translate into a better hookah. I want something authentic, not Chinese. So i've had my eye on these Egyptian Hookahs. I tried to find info on what makes Egyptian hookahs unique, but I didn't find much. Could someone please enlighten me?Is Egyptian the way to go? Also, a 4-hose rotating hookah was what I was primarily interested in originally, but now that just seems unnecessary. Is there an advantage to the rotating ability or not? i've already ruled out ice chamber hookahs. Thanks so much, and hope someone can help me,Alex
Zinite
Skip rotating. More moving parts = more parts to fail.Taller does not mean better. My favorite hookah is my smallest one.I strongly advise against getting a multi hose hookah with more than 2 hoses. You can't really smoke at the same time anyways... might as well pass it.For multi hose Egyptians, you pretty much have two options:Khalil Mamoonhttp://www.thehookah.com/khalil-mamoon-hookahs/Magdy Zidanhttp://www.socialsmoke.com/cat--Magdy-Zida...nalhookahs.html

combs08
4 hoses is entriely unnessessary. Same with it being a rotating one. Get a KM.
Arcane
+1 on skipping the rotating hookahs.egyptian hookahs are usually handmade and have a different styling than that of a syrian or Mya (chinese). i don't know how the generic chinese hookahs pull, but KMs have a very open draw and syrians have a bit tighter draw. also, syrians tend to be brass and egyptians can either be brass, stainless steel with a brass heart, or just stainless steel.i don't think you'll find many egyptians with more than one hose...although, i do think HC stocks a few. check out www.hookahcompany.com
mushrat
they look authentic. the only advantage to an egyptian hookah.

More moving parts = more parts to fail.the bearings could get rusty, but thats nothing a little wd40 can't fix.i have 3 rotators and they all smoke perfect due to the wide hose ports and downstems.just like every other hookah you just have to make sure there are no leaks. maverickman
Thank you all for your input. I completely see the point of view which advises against multiple hoses, but I must say I need a 4-hose. I understand that four people won't exactly be able to smoke at the same time, but sometimes I'll have 9 people smoking my one hookah, and having to pass/share with 2+ people gets to be a pain. I know it's social, but passing long distances gets old. I was looking at hookahcompany and found this one. I'm tentatively for this one... at present. Can anyone advise me further? Leather hoses ok or not?http://hookahcompany.com/four_hose_kamal_h...h_3849_prd1.htmI need this next hookah I buy to be "the one." It needs to last a long time, so this is an important investment. shisha fan
trust me, don't get that hookah. the only multihose-hookah worth getting is a mya, and even then you should go for 2 hoses max.only one person can draw smoke at a time and the other people will have to plug the hose with their thumb (or any other finger for that matter).it gets annoying and people tend to forget about it. i would only recommend a single hose egyptian to new smokers. Svaals
If you have 9 people smoking on a single hookah, then you might think about just buying more than one hookah. I mean, for the amount of money you'd be spending on that 4 hose Egyptian you could buy 3 mini-mya acrylic hookahs, each can be fitted with an adapter for up to 2 hoses.http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/conf...;idproduct=2330 Edited August 6, 2009 by Svaals

Get a Mya, that way you can change the adapters to support one to four hoses.http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/conf...;idproduct=2776http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/conf...;idproduct=2752

If he has 2-3 hookahs, ya he will have to load an extra bowl or two and use more coals, but the bowl will last longer since not as many people will be smoking it.... theoretically that is, depends on how fast they smoke it too I guess. Plus I wouldn't want to wait for 9 people before I take a hit since only one person can hit it at a time, unless she's a slut
