Think about how much processed food you eat and how much of it has been colored. Does eating red colored foods give you headaches, and if not why would smoking it do that to you. Side note, its a pretty damn good flavor
haze605
no doubt about it being a good flavor. that's what makes the situation suck. it tastes awesome and i would hate to not be able to smoke it b/c it of headaches.
Zinite
Someone else around here, Stuie I think, can't smoke Al Fakher because of the dye. Some people are just sensitive to it I think.
liquidglass
honestly, it may not be the dye at all, I get headaches with tangiers sometimes. So it could be the flavor gave you a headache i find certain flavors can do it more than others.

dizzbizz
I smoke AF almost exclusively and rarely get headaches. If I do, its spontaneous. I think its just the mood you're in and if you've eaten or possibly dehydrated. I dont know. I haven't found a consistent head ache with any shishas. Golden Layalina's Watermelon gave me a head ache the first time I packed it, but I just finished my stash of it without any discomfort. redjako
Just like the bad-tub syndrome with some Af' flavors, I've had issues with AF Mint recently, its not harsh or anything, just so super intense that its more of a sharp..hot air / menthol? Type slamming of the back of my throat.I've had to mix the whole thing with other flavors, watermelon, cafe latte (orgasmic!).By itself its been too much (and its not like super over powering minty, its just that weird rush at the back of the throat).Drink water as well, if your dehydrated (which shisha can do), you could be getting a headache from that. kdkhookah
I've had the same issue with AF grape, which I know a lot of people swear by this flavor. But the thing is it wasn't just me. Two other people were smoking and got the same effect. I've tried other AF flavors and other unwashed brands, and that's the only time I've gotten a headache from smoking. Stuie
It's the red dye.Red dye is a common allergy. I have it, well not as bad as I use to. I have a list of tobacco that has red dye and I don't smoke it but occasionally. Because when I do I, get massive headaches, nauseous and itchy. I don't drink anything colored red or eat anything dyed red....except Red Velvet Cake... I don't care it's worth it....I will smoke red dyed tobacco occasionally but usually i need to smoke something first like Romman, Tangiers or Nakhla. Helps with it. And mixing with a tobacco that is not dyed red helps also.

I know they use CO to make tuna look red longer. I don't know if it works for meat or not, though.Either way, makes me glad I don't buy any meat there. gunsboy
I get headaches when I am smoking shisha if I do not eat well before it and when my little sister starts chatting about her school She says "LIKE" and "OMG" a hundred times in 1 minute. Sonthert
I don't think its the dye. Its likely either carbon monoxide (from coals) or drying of your sinus cavities. I have a post somewhere. http://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?s=&am...st&p=396076
