But I remember reading a while back that Tangiers is different from all other tobacco, that Tangiers had to be fermented or something like that, not fermented but something else all I remember was that it's different. If someone could describe what the different between all the Tangiers is I would highly appreciate that to. *sigh* Posted August 9, 2009 Share Posted August 9, 2009 (edited) Tangiers has to acclimate, aka you let it sit out for awhile so it can adjust to the humidity and whatnot of your area. Also, the lines of Tangiers are Regular (OG), Lucid, and F-Line.Regular is unwashed Tangiers, Lucid is washed (lower nicotine) and F-Line has caffeine in it. There are a lot of threads about tangiers acclimation, and there are a few threads on how to pack it as well, Arcane has a nice one and hookah John posted up one of Eric the Tangiers man himself showing how to pack a phunnel.Edit - Ryno beat me to it. But you have to get your own tubs for it. I'd suggest a long shallow tub with a number 5 on the bottom, meaning its made of polypropylene so it wont absorb the flavor Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This means, inside with the A/C set to a constant temperature. If you smoke outside, acclimate outside and in the same conditions you're going to smoke it in (Night acclimation for night smoking, day for day). I would highly recommend you do it inside as this is the only place I smoke Tangiers and the only place I can get it to smoke well--smoking outside in Florida is miserable in the summer, anyway. For packing techniques, I would recommend the link in my sig (Biased, I know heh) and then find Tangiers Packing 2--same technique, just better lighting. If that video doesn't work, try a bunch until you get something that works for you. Main tips: Thin, harsh smoke means you underpacked and need to put a little more in the bowl; Nasty tobacco taste with black build-up on the bowl means you overpacked, take a little out. I quoted because It was not easy for me to smoke the first time. I watched a lot of packing videos, so i tried it out. Tangiers has a signature tickle in your throat when you smoke. As far as acclimation problems, believe me, I know what you're going through. The best thing I can say is: Constant environment. Acclimation in an unchanging, climate-controlled environment like my apartment seemed to be the missing link that solved all of my problems. If you find yourself getting the tobacco really close to acclimated but it won't quite go, try packing a bowl but error on the side of overpacking. Sonthert Posted August 15, 2009 Share Posted August 15, 2009 Tangiers. The rude brand. Its sig-worthy.Sometimes Tangiers will need to be acclimated, sometimes not. If it smells like BBQ sauce or like burnt rubber, it needs acclimating. The recommended procedure is currently:Put in a plastic tub that is shallow and has a good amount of extra space at the top. Leave it open for 4 hours. Seal it and smell it the next day. See if it has improved. If it smells right, smoke it. If it hasn't, leave it open for four hours and seal it up again until the next day. I have really only had to acclimate one flavor of Tangiers: Strawberry; and that was more a lack of any scent to the tobacco rather than a bad scent.I have no idea why it is, but I don't do sh*t. I smoke in my basement, which has horrible humidity right now... but I'm smoking some kashmir peach that I haven't touched since my birthday in June.
