Green Water?

Recommended Posts

yes and no.

depending on what shisha you smoke, your water will turn different colors. brown is normal for most shishas, but ive seen my water turn green from smoking mint shisha.

then again my friend had a green base and his water was almost always green so its hard to say.

the color of your base can also have an effect. my friend had a green base that would always have green water, then he switched bases and his water was more brown

shit in the bottom is probably shisha that leaked through, are you using a phunnel or an egyptian? if the stuff looks like tobacco it probably is.

clean your stem/downstem...thats where it is coming from.
I leave my noname egyptian on my backporch 24/7 setup and everytime I clean the stem, green water comes out

My friends did that becuase his water is not filtered, its well water with all those minerals and stuff. After a session it would turn green. Basically if we smoked at his house we had to change out the water every 30 mins.

It could also be your coals.. I bought some shisha co. coals and they don't flake, instead the ash is like little pellets and I noticed they make their way to my down stem a lot easier and when I clean it out after my session dark green water that comes out, my base water is also colored. Oh and I use a small tang phunnel so its definitely not my shisha.

If your not using a phunnel bowl the liquids from the shisha will leak down into the vase causing the water to change colors, nothing's wrong with it, it happens to everyone just make sure you wash it out after your done with your session tongue.gif

Corrosion of brass depends on the copper and zinc levels in it. The green is typical verdigris and should be cleaned as verdigris is toxic. When exposed to air and water, oxidation of copper forms copper carbonate and sometimes copper chloride if the chloride content in the water is high enough. This could be the green stuff you are probably seeing. Dezincification of brass appears red or reddish-brown and is less likely to occur in the base. It requires high temperature, acidic or alkaline water, or an electrolytic solution, ie salt water, because zinc is highly reactive.
