Will The Hieght Of A Hookah Effect Its Performance?

Recommended Posts

im really interested in a shorter hookah..i had a 32'' km that i gave to my brother this time id like something around a 22'' hookah, john has some really good looking MZ'S.. this is the one i like http://www.hookahjohn.com/product.sc?produ...mp;categoryId=9 but back to my question, will it being shorter effect the taste or smoking experience at all? or is it just a looks thing? alsi if anyone can give me there opinion on this hookah...to me it really looks great but id like to hear from others..thank you

Nope.

The only difference between short hookahs and large hookahs is their size. Now, some smaller hookahs have tight draw, and some larger hookahs have a better draw, but that is by no means exclusive to their sizes. My QT smokes almost as good as my KM.

I notice a difference between my MZ nefertiti, my mya qt and my colossus, they all smoke a bit differently, but the qt seems more direct somehow. like the smoke does not flow into my lungs so much as it just gets in there.... i dont know what i'm talking about.

I smoke out of a QT a majority of the time, all my other stuff is currently in storage. I'd say with a razan hose my qt smokes almost as well as a km. I'm very happy with it. As for cooling the smoke, isn't the water volume in the base what primarily effects this, not stem height?

An extra foot at the stem probably isn't going to affect the temperature of the smoke. Especially when that smoke is going through cool water and probably 7 feet of hose. I don't know about draw, though. I imagine even draw would be affected primarily by the width of the stem/hose/port. Edited by Svaals

that is why you don't want your km back? really?

just take electrical tape, wrap it tightly around the grommet, until there is a smooth seal, done.

if its too big sand it down with sand paper till it fits smoothly, done.

And from what i understand all egyptian hookahs are gonna give you that problem because the vases are handmade.

ya i guess i can do that, though it will be a pain in the ass to use electrical tape everytime..i may keep it rather then dropping around $100 for a new one..get me some more shisha with that money..although i may change the vase mines is green i like the look of clear ones..

Between my KM and my QT, the only difference I notice is in the smoothness draw.

With my QT, the bubbling in the water is very noticable in that you can hear it and feel it in the draw. Due to a bigger base and more water (I think), in the KM it's barely noticable. I would compare it to smoking with a diffuser - you can scarcely hear or feel the bubbles.

Honestly, I never noticed any difference in temperature as any reduction would occur prior to the smoke hitting the water. It seems that any variation of pre-water smoke would be brought to equilibrium by the water. IMO, a smoother draw is the only advantage to be had from a larger hookah. And considering the same effect can be obtained with a diffuser on a small hookah, I'll stick with my QT. Hands down, it's the best all-around hookah on the market.

if it's bothering you that much, maybe you should consider buying a mya acrylic. I have one, smokes great and you have to screw on the stem, it's very easy..

that does sound like the greatest thing since man invented the condom..lol why arnt they more popular?

Generally screw on stems are associated with crappy generic Chinese hookahs. Mya, on the other hand, seems to make a decent pipe. I have had 2 screw on stems - the screw on part works fine, the problem is the anodized aluminum, which Mya doesn't use.
