NIGHTS OF BAGHDAD
i was using hand lotion on the rubber grommet that goes on the stem and into the vase and the lotion ate up the grommet to were it wasnt air tight anymore..so i was wondering if cooking oil is safer to use to help squeeze the stem into the vase? Arcane
i guess it would be safe, i'd worry about being able to taste the oil at some point....especially when the bowl starts heating up. why not use the wet paper towel method?
the_cool
The paper towel trick is a bit more difficult when trying to the fit the stem to the vase, you have to take the grommet/gasket off and uses the right amount of tissue instead, its not like puttin on the bowl at the top.Using cooking oil shud be fine, it wont leave a taste becuase its on the outside of the stem, I guess it could drip into the water but even if it did you wudnt get a taste. What I do is this, I wet my finger and rub it all over the grommet/gasket, then I litereally just touch the top of the dishwashing fluid i have in the kitches so i have a bit on my finger and i rub that around the grommet/gasket again Rub a touch more water on it to spread it out if your fringer gets dry. Only thing to be careful is when you are Removing the water, while you pour it, it will bubble due to mixing with the dishwashing fluid residue. fcbayern
I ususally just tip the vase a bit and pick up some water from it and wipe it onto the gasket.
Arcane
oh sorry...for some reason, i was thinking you were talking about the bowl being loose...if the grosket to the stem is too big, you can just sand it down a bit...

Wet your fingers slightly with sheesha juice. Rub it on the jar gasket. Slip it in.
