Bandito
So i used the handy search feature and read through several different threads on glycerin and went off to get my own, eventually found one at a pharmacy but i can't determine if it is safe for hookah use from what is described in the bottleOn the bottle it says that it is a skin protectant and softener, it doesn't specify if it is food grade or animal/vegetable derived. It does say that you can use on your lips, and i highly doubt anything for use on the lips is toxic to consume, but i still want to make sureIt really doesn't say much more, i tasted it and it did taste a bit sweet, which i think is a good sign, and i also included a picture of the bottle in case anyone recognizes itHope this was enough info to help, thanks in advance! Zinite
If it tastes like a sugar paste it's okay. The bad stuff tastes like soap. Does it say anything about USP anywhere?
Sonthert
That picture doesn't help at all. It should be OK if it doesn't taste soapy.
Bandito
Yea sorry about the pic, it seems as if the background was clearer than the bottle, i just put it up in case anyone had the same bottle and recognized itAnd yes it says USP on the bottle - good or bad? delSol_si
Thats is the same stuff walmart sells, I have been told to stay away from it.
Sonthert
If it says USP, you're good to go. USP is United States Pharmacopoeia. Its a standard for human usage.
Bandito
Alright thanks for the help sonthert, i came to the conclusion that it's safe, it tastes sugary and i looked up the company and found a detailed page on the product that said that inhalation is possible and consuming small amounts shouldn't be a problem, it is in fact vegetable glycerin and it's HUMCO brand for anyone who would like to know

Bandito
QUOTE (contristo @ Aug 15 2009, 09:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>what do you guys use the glycerine for? are you making your own shisha or is it recommended for some brands? No i currently have shisha that is rather dry and i bought glycerin to use to moisten it more and help have thicker smoke, it isn't really recommended for any particular brands it's just convenient to have for any shisha that is dry and that could use a bit extra help with the smoke
