I tried with lucid and went through about 5/6 peices and ripped it each time. I think the trick is extra thick/HD foil. that or camera tricks! Zinite
Use a nail file or a real file of you have one and file the ends of the prongs so they are sharper.

Also, if I remember correctly, Eric used heavy duty foil which is harder to tear... I'd say go with a 'pointier' fork and perhaps some HD foil.... redjako
You can't poke holes with the tines straight down, watch the Eric video again, he either twists into it, or angles Downward with the tines, then twists the bowl slightly.

hookah hippie
I personally use a fork I got from target and it works quite well but push it in on kind on an angledue to its shape the fork will rip the foil if you push it in straight
delSol_si
You gotta remember, when you are poking holes around the rim or close to it, your bowl slopes/slants downward. Once the tips of your fork hit the curve, your fork will proceed to follow the bend, ripping your foil. You can go straight down if your points will clear the bottom of the bowl, but if, you have to slant the fork a bit so it doesn't hit the bottom, or just not push the fork that far down. no longer welcome
eric will have to explain the method better, you saw my hackjob when i tried to use an oyster fork. i think he'll tell you that you may have to go in at an angle rather than straight in, and yes the type of fork matters, rounded edges don't help. everytime i go to tangiers and prepare my own bowl i do the same crappy job. at home i stick to a tooth pick. i like my results, i also like using methods that took some thuoght in coming up with such as the eric oyster fork procedure, i'm just bad at it. foibled again
The oyster fork Eric gave me isn't very pointy. If I take my time I can get clean holes in single layer regular Reynolds but I usually do tear the foil if I'm not paying too much attention to what I'm doing. Personally I prefer using a scribe/pick but it takes longer.

Sonthert
1. Use heavy foil. Its harder to tear.2. Use a sharp tined fork. Not a blunt one. 3. Make sure the foil is tight as a drum. Loose foil tears a lot.4. Approach the foil gently, when the fork meets the foil, push down firmly. Adding too much force will tear the foil, a jabbing motion will tear the foil.
