People Obsessed With Giant Smoke Clouds

from reading and watching vids on you tube the main point everyone keeps making is the size of smoke clouds..even saw one guy said to use a certain type of coal to get bigger smoke clouds..how many of you would continue to smoke your hookah if there were no smoke clouds at all just the flavor? and would you still smoke it as often? I probably wouldn't smoke hookah at all if there was little or no smoke/flavour.

Thats the fun part about hookah for me, testing new techniques and always striving for that "perfect" session.

Interesting topic, no i wouldnt namely because the reason i got into smoking hookah had to do with smoking. Also it really is half the fun, most of the time i try to maximize the length of the bowl and the flavor but sometimes i say screw it and just go for huge clouds

Flavor is ever so slightly more important to me than clouds... I don't need extraordinary clouds as long as it tastes good. Buzz doesn't even factor in... I haven't gotten one in ages anyways.

can you really "smoke" a hookah that doesnt "smoke" I'd have to say I'd quit smoking, being no smoke and all.
I'd probably hook it up to a shop vac and make the house smell nice.

Honestly I love my flavor, but the smoke ha some sort of draw to it that just can't be separated from hookah, I think it is the true fruition of all your work to perfecting your hookah session. I wouldn't smoke a bowl that had no flavor and huge clouds, but I also wouldn't smoke a bowl that had great flavor and no clouds. Without them both, hookah is no more.

big clouds equal good session. lil clouds equal poor session. just as long as it doesnt taste burnt i'm happy with the flavor. clouds are fun and apperently to most avatars big clouds take the winning circle in this debate. and no i wouldnt smoke if there was small clouds.

Good question its hard to make a good guess about whether or not I would smoke without clouds for I don't have a smokeless hookah

but I would like to say I love hookah enough that I would smoke it with not such big clouds

Not nearly as often. For me smoking is largely visual.

Good question. I often measure my success with a session based on the amount of smoke everyone is able to pull out, but at the same time the taste is more important. If all you want is smoke, just start roasting pieces of wood instead of tobacco. I mean the smoke makes it more fun. It definitely makes smoking with others more enjoyable. I don't see how solo smokers would be as concerned about smoke. Not saying I'm not if i smoke alone, but they don't have anyone to turn to and say, "Watch this." I usually smoke with at least three other people during a session, and I'm always more worried about the taste than the amount of smoke. If all I wanted was huge clouds, instead of purging and rotating coals if it gets harsh, I could just let the coals sit there and burn the tobacco. The result would be huge clouds but an abysmal taste. I'm a fan of flavor and huge clouds, so I'm just glad we don't have to actually choose.

... I let my gf use my MZ last night while I smoked out of the noname egyptian...shes there "hahaha my clouds are bigger than yours!" I asked her for a puff...Me:"hahaha my flavor is way more intense than yours!"

if there's literally no smoke, then i would quit...i might as well consume whatever it is i wanted to smoke, fruit, drink, mint leaves, whatever....if it's just strictly flavor...

it'll be cheaper that way too....

Pardon me if this was mentioned, I didn't read all the replies.

There is a poll out in the mix that basically evaluated blind peoples' smoking preferences. something like 98% of blind people don't smoke. The conclusion is that smoking (in the study's case, cigarettes) is largely a visual pleasure.

It is easy to say that we would smoke for flavor even without clouds knowing our present habits, but I find it hard to believe a large number of people would get into hookah smoking if it weren't for the clouds, based on my own observations and feelings; the study; and a little bit of outside-the-box thinking.

I have smoked before where I got monster clouds and no flavor and it sucked! I have smoked with very subtle clouds and had some flavor.

I would have to say Flavor over clouds.

I am in this crowd, however flavor is important. I don't think I'd smoke with no clouds, nor would I smoke with no flavor (cigs would be the choice I suppose. I think both are important. I don't mind smaller/less dense clouds as long as the flavor is really good, but I LOVE the big clouds so I can make rings and blow smoke bubbles. I think the smoke is what makes it more sociable, since it's fun to watch your buddies blowing O's and making smoke bubbles and such.
