Pacha
Well obviously Tangiers knows a bit about it. But I was just wondering if anybody has tried making their own shisha. I have been very interested in growing tobacco for quite some time. I understand if you don't want to share any secrets Tangiers, but it would be cool to gain some input from some experienced hookahers. If nothing else I would like to know what I am smoking exactly. Twang
Don't know if this helps, I skimmed through it. There might be some ideas in there to get you started. I noticed a recipe or two near the bottom.
Pacha
Very interesting. I just might have to try that. I am about two seconds away from ordering some tobacco seeds. I just need a place to cure them.
skiracerj1
you may not need to grow your own tobacco, my local arab market sells plain tobacco leaf speficially for making your own shisha, I forget the brand though, i'll check it out next time I stop in there. Sonthert
Yeah, you guys are missing some basic steps. One: glycerine. Two fruit won;t work well, unless its dried, because there's too much water in it. I've seen that link before, I think that guy is a crackpot, certainly not making the type of tobacco we're used to.If you do grow your own tobacco, you realize it must be cured in some manner, otherwise it will be very bad. Perhaps dangerous.
Buford
Green unprocessed tobacco is some pretty stinky stuff. Smells sort of like a cross between cut grass and tomato plants.
zzzzzT
I would leave growing and curing tobacco to the professionals. It is an intensive process.
