pennstatesmoke
ok so i was hanging out with some buddys and i usually put a little milk in the base mixed with the water so enhance the fullness of the cloud.. so the problem is that in the middle of the session we had to leave suddenly and the only thing i thought to do was quick put out the coal. now there is a layer of crusty old milk at the bottom of the base. ive tryed to get it out by:-washing it with soap and water-boiling water in it-use a stick and strap it out-put it in the dish washerand i got about 70% of it out but theres still some i just cant get out and its driving me nutsso if anyone has anyother ideas to get this out of my base please help me

ProbablyTaken
Milk that has had a chance to dry is a mixture of some starch like consistency and some fatty/oily dried on stuff. I find that both respond well to very hot, very high pressure or agitated water and time. Considering its glass you can use just about anything to get it out, so long as you make sure to get whatever you use back out of there. Steel wool on the end of a long scrub brush handle along with warm soapy water.

kvtaco17
I thew up reading the title... just let water and lemon juice soak overnight... should do it
illadelph
You could wipe it out with some rubbing alcohol. That's what I use to clean my bowl if it's really dirty. It wipes away anything pretty easily and then evaporates clean, maybe it'll work on the milk. Using a folded paper towel and enough alc. to get it damp is a good way to do it. mjdx88
So what have we learned???(Insert Smart-ass Comment) Dont leave milk in base.... Seriously though I have tried it I dont think it helps at all and if it doesnt as you get better with heat management you wont need the milk. Also try coconut milk its suppose to be easier to clean and better. As for cleaning...Try a soak in hot water and soap, get the water as hot as it can go and add the soap fill to the top and let it sit overnight. If that doesnt work try again with lemon juice and hot water. If all fails... go to the dollar store and pick up a water balloon filler and use that to get the crud out.Side note I PMed the offender. The same info I posted...I guess give him a chance to change...but if someone reported it oh well... Edited August 18, 2009 by mjdx88

I'll go back and check the rules again..Props to you illadelph, I for one appreciate someone who can respect the rules of their environment. Thanks, sincerely. The only reason we want the rules enforced is so Hookahforum doesn't pop up on google as a place for other illegal things and to break the connotation some people have.edit:I mod alerted when i read the post so they could message him and edit his post, otherwise I'm all for second chances.so if a mod is reviewing the thread, I'm asking that the post just be edited since I'm sure it's beyond edit time and illadelph be given another chance. Thanks.
illadelph
Thanks liquidglass. Also, quick side note to be clear. When I say bowl, I'm referring to my hookah bowl. Wasn't sure if that was part of the issue or not.

ilikemyusername
yet another reason not to put milk in your vase, thats nasty. But good luck cleaning it out, you could try coarse sand and windex, with alot of swooshing you shpuld be able to get it out.
