illadelph
Hey everybody, here's my ghetto little yellow hookah :]I'm hoping to get some suggestions on... coal placement, or something. Just any tips for a better smoke.Recommendations for sheesh, coals, etc..?After about 15 min the smoke usually gets harsh, what's the best way to deal with that?I really appreciate any input, thanks.-illadelph
MeNouA
2 hoser on that small of a hookah? O_o weird..make sure its an auto-seal adapter like the mya ones.and cut up the coals and put them on the sides of the bowl instead of directly in the middle like in the picture.also what shisha are you using? could be the quality of it or the way you packed the bowl
illadelph
I don't normally break or cut the coals so maybe that's why it's getting harsh, too much heat? (It seems like they wouldn't cut cleanly, what's a good way to do it?)I have cleopatra coconut and a couple starbuzz flavors. I just fill the bowl lightly then kinda pack it down with the foil. Then pull the foil to make it tight over the bowl giving it a little space for when it heats up and expands. Or that's the idea at least. There's one ball bearing in each hose grommet so that you don't have to plug the idle hose. That's auto-seal yes? kudomonster
Once the coals nice and hot it's actually pretty easy to break using the poker that's on most tongs. you can break it into two, but I would suggest three or maybe four peices. Put the on the outside of the bowl. and slowly work your way in as you feel the smoke quality declining. My tip for packing bowls is to keep it nice and loose, and poke holes so that it's easy to breath through just the bowl. (I put the bowl up to my mouth, blow, suck, and if it's easy it's good to go!) fineout
definately break that coal into 2 or 3 pieces, you can score it with the edges of your tongs and then they will break cleanly usually, then leave them on the edges and rotate every 10ish minutes. srawas89
I have smoked out of a one hose version of this. Basically one coal is too much for the bowl. Instead of splitting the coal take it off to the side of the bowl with a little of the coal is hanging off the bowl. If that doesnt work try poking smaller holes and slightly fewer in number along with the coal trick so not as much heat is on the tobacco at once. I am not a big fan of splitting coals as you see lol. However if it does work for you go for it.
thehelios
I've had this exact same one but with a blue base and one hose. That looks like a 40mm coal so go for a 33mm one. More holes on the outside. Also, I know it makes it even more ghetto but that hookah should fit into a large powerade bottle and keep the heat down a bit since you have more water to deal with. That's auto-seal yes?I've never personally used cleopatra coconut coals but I can't see them being far off other coconuts as far as the temprature they reach. Starbuzz is a very low temprature tobacco as well, that's probably where your harshness is coming from. That or underpacking the bowl, I really don't recommend leaving an airspace, you want that puppy filled to the top.I would recommend trying some other brands if you've only smoked SB and really see what's out there for you. I know that stuff is stupid popular, but you'll be surprised how well a lot of the non "premium" brands smoke.
illadelph
Actually cleopatra is a brand of shisha, coconut flavor. I think it's good, I haven't tried a ton of different brands and flavors but the cleopatra is definitely better than starbuzz. The powerade bottle is an interesting idea.. I think I'll try smaller coals and maybe some ice cubes in the base with the water? before I start recycling. ;]The coals I'm using are called Ram, and they come in a shiny silvery wrapper. I'm not sure if they're 33mm or 40mm.And my mini two hoser is actually supposed to be a one. When I bought it I was mainly planning on sharing it, so I convinced the guy at the smoke shop to add another hose since the grommets just screw off/on and you can make it into a two if you want.
