fcbayern
So I was sitting around smoking yesterday smokin sum Safari Melon Dew thinking about if I could make my session any better. After smokin at a few HB's around town and with a few other people, I know I can setup a rig better than most. (thanks to all of my hookah mentors here at HF!)So my question is "Is it ever perfect?" or are you always trying to find a way to make it better, with more flavor or bigger clouds.. dakur001
I guess I wouldn't consider it an ongoing search for perfection so much as a way to simply enjoy oneself. Sometimes, that entails trying to determine ways to better a session, but most of the time it's just about relaxing and appreciating the bowl. I rarely find myself thinking, "How could this be improved," while I'm smoking, but when I'm not smoking I will come here and see if anyone else has any interesting tips or tricks. So I guess bottom line is, appreciate the bowl at hand, and when not smoking see what sort of advice others have to offer. That's from where I'm sitting, anyway. Sonthert
Perfection is relative. A day thats better than yesterday is better than yesterday. Thats how I look at it anyways.

Scrappydoo
I've often wondered the same thing and thru the years have learned a lot of tips and tricks. Everything from fluffing up your shisha as you pack your bowl; adding juice, ice or wine to the jar; refridgerating your stem, custom mixes and brand recommendations and storage tips. I am always open to new suggestions. I have found that grape or pomegranate juice greatly improves the flavor of "compatible" shishas, like grape, cherry or plum. Ice makes the smoke lighter and more pleasant. Wine is just plain gross and a waste of a good beverage in my opinion. Strawberry juice makes a big mess, doesn't do anything but piss me off. As far as I see it, smoking shisha is like sex (or pizza!) Even when it's pretty bad, it's still good but there are always ways to make it better! Did that help? LOL! chromecarz00
When you reach a point when every hit you take clouds the room youre in,numbs your mouth with the intense amounts of flavor, amazes everyone in the room just from the smell, and puts a smile on your face every hit you take....thats when I know ive made it. It may be different for you; as Eric double-posted, it is relative.
Vladimir.C.Kabak
instead of heading towards perfection in a bowl because thats limitless, focus on keeping away from bad bowls.i usually average out to having a steady good hookah experience and settle with whats relaxing. id notice a bad bowl before id notice a perfect one. newjacksm
My sessions are never perfect. Sometimes close to perfect, but I always want better tasting bigger clouds longer lasting bowls then what I already get. I have had these sessions recently with Nak DA and NAk Guava close but not perfection. I will never reach perfection.
Hookie The Hookah
Yeah, there is perfection. Your hookah isn't going to start singing show tunes and doing backflips. Once you stop burning bowls master tangiers and ALWAYS have a good time, then what more can you do?

Chiefin
I feel like there's phases of Hookah-dom that I rotate with in terms of topping my current set-up/quality. My obsessions, if you will, will typically be:1) Trying new flavors...which fades to sticking with my go-to's2) Buying new hookahs...can I ever have enough? 3) Trying new coals...and going right the hell back to coconaras. If only HJ's coals were a little bigger/taller...4) Packing Tangiers...which I've mastered at this point5) Smoking my hookah in new locations...and then realizing that it's a pain in the ass anywhere but my living room6) Wanting a buzz...then realizing my tolerance is too high for it to even matter7) The innovative phase, where I try to build something worthless like a diffuser from a ping pong ballI think it comes down to the fact that a great bowl slowly dies when you're smoking it. It's best in that first 15-30 minutes... and then you start thinking about the next one.
Arcane
i guess i achieved my idea of perfection, once....with Static Starlight + Ubermint. Ridiculous flavor, tons of smoke...smoke detector going off 15 minutes into the session, near heart attack on my part....Looks like perfection isn't made to last long these days... Sonthert
I like Vladimir's line of thought. As I tell people: "The secret of winning games is to make decisions that reduce your chances of failing until your chance of losing is zero." The same thing is true for hookah, I suppose.
