Tikhman
perfectly safe as long as you do a good job rinsing out the soap, but don't waste good vodka.
*sigh*
I use soap in the vase, normally not the stem though. Just rinse it out well. The whole vodka thing would work, but for cleaning purposes you would be better off using cheaper Isopryl Alchohol or something different altogether. liquidglass
Vodka for the stem is sort of like pepsi for battery terminals, I don't know the science of it, but it basically just eats at any gunk build up.
MikessekiM
My moms friend is a chemistry teacher and saw I was trying to clean my hookah. She suggested I use white vinegar and warm water, it had something to do with the PH levels...
Amn_sinclair
i use dish soap for mine but instead of vodka i prefer 151 just cause the high alcohol content and smoking right after using the alcohol adds a little to it or at least i tthink it does lol
Zinite
You shouldn't use dish soap. Dish soap is engineered to leave a residue behind, so your hands feel soft after you do the dishes. Lemon juice, hot water, alcohol rub, vinegar, vodka, beer all work well.
Amn_sinclair
alright ill stop the dish soap use right away, by the way nice smoke clouds
Frankay
I let him sit in the bath in water/lemon juice and then after put some vodka into it It works #1 for me ... Smell like a new after
ih303
I've always just filled my base with water then added a few drops of bleach. I love this method because it's much cheaper than vodka and you only use a couple of drops. Works like a dream.

Stuie
i use Dawn Dish Soap for all my hookahs. Wash them good and dry them. Would never waste even the cheapest vodka to clean them. Waste of Vodka.

For cleaning, I'm usually a fan of the lemon juice-baking soda-water mix, it kills odor and leaves your hookah smelling pleasant but not overpoweringly of cleaner. Svaals
I use rubbing alcohol to clean my hookah. Evaporates readily, cleans well, and it's cheap.

delSol_si
I use Dawn on my hookah. Works extremely well. Codename067 uses it as well, thats actually the reason I started using it and I don't plan to stop anytime soon. As far as the alcohol, the only alcohol I am willing to waste on my hookah is the leftover beer in the bottom of my can when I get too drunk to remember to finish it. hookah hippie
vinegar works very well I have been using it for years
liquidglass
I have used vodka but honestly I normally use Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Gun cleaning brush/rod, Oxy Clean (all purpose powder), effervescent tablets. Not all at once of course but just various devices I use from time to time depending on the item being cleaned and the severity of the filth. Arcane
Codename's video (yep, i know its his ) works fine for cleaning hookah. although, it is true that dish soap will leave a residue on the glass if it's not scrubbed off completely. and it won't be scrubbed off completely using just the base brush alone.i like the efferdent tablet method...i've never tried it, but i'd imagine it works good. Sonthert
Vodka is fine. Vodka vs. brandy, for instance, is preferable because it has no color or sugar or gunk in it.To the chemistry teacher lady, I would mention to her you aren't cleaning out nicotine, you are cleaning out water-insoluble organic compounds. I would avoid soap or detergent. SOme of them have bleach. which is a bad thing to use. Some of them have agents which leave a residue which can affect your flavor quality.
