MeNouA
I packed a mod bowl with nahkla sweet melon. first 10 minutes were good but it just got way too harsh too smoke. I tried taking a coal off, same problem. Let the bowl cool down, put it on again and still same thing. Its hitting wimpy, not too much smoke..okay flavor but way too harsh. I packed it pretty loose, like how I pack diff flavors. Put 3 japanese charcoals on it then took one off but way too harsh. Anyone know how what the problem is and how I can fix it? Giant Ninja Robot
3 coals is way too much for a mod bowl in my experience. try 1.5, and if that isnt enough try two, work your way up. Also sometimes packing Nak a little bit tighter helps, not as tight as tangiers but tighter than others like AF or SB.

chinodos
You also may want to try and be patient heating the bowl up. Start with one half- wait 3-5 minutes then add another half on the opposite side. If you need a third half after 5 minutes or so put it on. Sometimes you have to heat the bowl up slowly for it to burn smoothly. I found this out the hard way
ilikemyusername
or overflow the bowl and use a rediculous ammount of coal, like 3 coconut coals and as it gets to be tooo much, knock the heat back, thats how i learned, except I wasnt using coconut coals I was using lemonwood coals in an orange plastic bag. I would litterally fit the coals to cover the bowl in a mosaic type pattern and remove 1 piece every so often.true story, and I'm still alive to tell the tale.
