Had A Weird Experience

Recommended Posts

So when I first started smoking I used to get super nauseous after smoking. Neddless to say that with the help of my friends here, I figured out my mistakes (like waiting for QL's to be fully lit).

Jump forward to yesterday. I was trying out some new coals smoking a bowl of SB pink. As I'm smokin I noticed the coals a burning a bit hotter than I'm used to and I am getting very low flavor. I know I was running the ragged edge of burning my shisha, but I was getting monster clouds, and not bad flavor or harshness, just little or no flavor. I was having soooo much fun with the monster clouds that i continued to smoke this way for about an hour. When My session was over I stood up from my chair and immediately had to got lay down. I was really sick, cold sweats and all. I really wanted to puke. After about another hour of laying in bed, and a good shower I felt better with just a bit of a headache.

So I know what I was doing wrong. (I was running the shisha way too hot, but not harsh) My question is "Why would I feel soo bad from burning the shisha hotter? Does more nicotine burn out of the leaf at higher temps? Does it have to do with the burning Glycerine? Is this a CO2 thing? Or you think it just has something to do with the Volume of smoke I ingested?

P.S. The New coals were just regular CH Natural coals, just a new box. I have Smoked these plenty of times before. It just seems this batch was slightly hotter than my last. I don't think this has anything to do with the coals.

maybe burning the tobacco and i believe if you get it too hot, you get more nicotine? or something like that...

i remember someone saying that was the case with Tangiers...underpacked bowl, means too much heat, means more nicotine is vaporized, means your face gets melted.

then again, its SB...so, i dunno if it was actually the nicotine... Edited by Arcane

I think you guys are right. Just now I went to clean the bowl, and the shisha that came out of it was just a black crispy crunchy hockey puck. SO I think I just was burning the tobacco itself.. This seems weird cuz it wasnt harsh or tingly in my throat at all. Again i new I was running it on the hot side, my bad, but I was just loving the super atomic, need a fucking fog horn to find the hose again clouds smile.gif

starbuzz has practically no nicotine. if he burned the tobacco it would taste like a cigarette essentially, practically impossible to do with foil on the bowl.

my advice, stop smoking chemical laced food dyed tobacco

I've also experienced this the past couple times I've smoked. Dizzyness, (especially when I try to stand) cold sweats, feeling like I'm going to hurl.. not good.
I think I probably didn't put enough shisha in the bowl and it got too hot too quick. Or It could be my hookah that I've washed a few times and might have rusted a bit in the hose or something. Also I was just in my room which isn't huge so it could've been co2 related, I guess I was asking for it lol. I'm going to switch hookahs, locations, and pack more shisah! see if that helps. :]
As for starbuzz having very little nicotine? I heard that cleopatra has .5% nic and starbuzz has .05% which is not true. I actually have both and they're both .05%. (which is kind of the standard amount across the board isn't it?)

.05 means that the tobacco has been washed, .5 like nakhla is the standard, in my book anyway.

What does it mean if it's washed? They're both still juicy and what not, how are they "washing" the nic out?

*edit: or is that just a term meaning that it's watered down so to speak. Edited by illadelph

the juice gets added after its washed...lol. tobacco leaves don't come pre-flavored and covered in glycerine.

lol obviously yeah.. the thought that you could possibly wash your shisha to get some of the nicotine out (for whatever reason?) is what confused me. I had no idea that nicotine was water soluble.

I doubt Eric would go through sooo much trouble just to impress me. I'm quite sure he has much better things to do with his time.

#1 that is from the VNV Nation video for the song Illusion...love the band, got to see them twice live

sounds like CO2 poisoning...I used to get that a lot early on in my shisha smoking career...now once in a while it happens to me, usually when I'm not using a phunnel

My crystal ball is mighty!

Tangiers does that all the time when it rains. I have suspected that high water content brands go through acclimation issues for some time now, just nobody talks about it or believes it.

Its an acclimation issue. +1 for science.

Current score: Science: 47, Blind Faith: 5.06

I have blind faith in Erics Science!!!

Btw i have commented a few times here on the acclimation issues of SB before. And I have been told I was crazy. Nice to know I'm not the only one. wink.gif
