Comments In The Trade Section

Recommended Posts

Lately I have been reading some irrelevant posts or even posts that essentially put down and item that someone is selling. I think this is really rude, if you are not interested in the products for sale there is no need to give your two cents publicly (a PM should suffice)

just my thoughts, if this doesnt belong mods feel free to delete

I think it's subconsciously trying to negotiate. Honestly if you are selling a used hookah or opened up package of nakhla/tangiers/ shisha why should it be 2- 10 dollars off from new? Sometimes it's more then new. It's never like that with electronics or cars etc, etc.... So I agree with who ever complains but maybe it should be done in a different fashion.

I agree you should be able to price what ever you want to sell at what ever price you want but I think a lot of the stuff in the trade section are hardly deals. You can get better deals new at local shops if you look hard enough in Arab Delis/shops

That's online and used in the trade section. Edited by newjacksm

but at the same time. If somebody is trying to rip people off. Then I'd say it's ok to post something about how you can find a much better deal then that at 'x' location.
Or to better inform the seller of his own item if they are selling it at an outrageous price or wrong description.

It's just that a couple dollars off a used hookah/whatver doesn't make it seem all that great then you pay absurd shipping charges which make it more then new most of the time. You might as well just buy it new. Which is why I think people nag in some of the trade posts. I am just sayin, I've never done it... But that's all I am trying to say. Edited by newjacksm

I have mixed feelings about this. Ya, it's not the nicest thing to post shit on someone else's trade, but at the same time, I have seen some pretty crappy deals in there lately and I think it would really suck for some new person to go through with a trade on here, then find out later they got screwed and then never come back here because they don't trust us as a whole just because one person screwed them. Overall, I say let the comments stay unless they are way out of line.

If someone says "dude, you can get that cheaper at _____.com" then I think thats ok, but if someone says "dude, don't be an ass, this is a complete ripoff" then that is out of line. thats my twocents.gif

I dunno I like buying stuff for my car off of car forums because generally they are helllll of a lot cheaper then buying used off Ebay and or new. But I dont see that at HF. Its almost the opposite. I haven't sold anything Hookah wise. I much rather trade then sell to be honest with you.. Either trade or just give it away when it comes to Hookah.

Hookah has a different value to me then I guess electronics or car stuff. I'd much rather pass it along or trade for something to try something new then make a quick buck.

Everyone is different though. Edited by newjacksm

eiter way, whatever the person is selling if you have no interest in it or even if you do you shouldnt post dump..just dont say anything or if you feel the need to say something just make a comment on the product if you have used it and wish the seller luck with it..but dont thrash his thread even if its over priced by triple..its his item and he can ask whatever he wants for it..doesnt mean he will get it..but who cares..its for him to worry about..

i don't agree with you. if i were new to hookah and someone sold me a large phunnel bowl for $50, because "it's an OFFICIAL Tangiers bowl, smokes up to 12 hours!! Limited Stock!" etc....i'd be pissed. REALLY PISSED.

i understand it's buyer beware, but i don't think us as a "community" should turn a blind eye to people deliberately trying to rip someone off.

if you saw a person getting mugged, would you just walk away? i know i wouldn't.

how can you compare the two? if your getting mugged you have no control over the situation..you risk getting killed if you resist..you buying somrthing is at your own risk..do your research before you walk blindly in the situation..if your in the market for a car and see someone selling the one your interested in..do you just buy it or do some research on what this type of item goes for? besides the reason your buying something used is cause you know how much it goes for new and you dont want to pay the new price and dont mind a used one..and if you dont know what it goes for used then you first DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE and find out what a new one goes for before you just walk into a deal like a jackass and get your self ripped off...BUYER BEWARE..AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!..

i agree with joy. i try to price all my stuff fairly. if you think its too high a message is a lot better than saying "ha idiot, theres new shit for that much".

people who use this forum are prone to shopping around and going to sites, they can make informed decisions on their own in my opinion. going into someones for sale thread and trying to drop a deuce on their goods is uncouth.

the person will figure out their items are priced too high by no one showing interest.

it's easy to compare the two. in previous scenario, someone is doing something immoral and we as a community are letting it happen. in the latter, someone is doing something immoral and a person is letting it happen. maybe, the extent of immorality is a bit extreme but still, i think, is valid.

if you're using car buying as a reference, let's say your brother, sister, or even a good friend is looking for a car and they see a Toyota 4Runner. the car salesman says, this is a great car and is definitely worth $45,000. so, they go home and tell you they can get the car for $45K...but, you know that it's retail is more like $30,000. do you say, "Look it up." or would your response be more similar to "Retail is only $30K. Check Edmunds."?

i guess you can say, well it's their own fault if they didn't research. i've been screwed over internet selling before and it would've been nice if someone was lookin out for me at the time. i know how it feels to get ripped off...i wouldn't want someone to feel the same way.

i believe.....if i have the ability to help someone, i should have the responsibility to do so. Edited by Arcane
