What Was Your First Hookah And Do You Still Have It?

Recommended Posts

Time for reminiscing:

My first hookah was given to me by my older brother when I was 16. It's a one hose rotator bought in Israel and I still have it since 2003. It's the only rotator in the picture and I still have it to this day. Smokes well last time I used it but need to fix some welding marks on it to make sure it's air tight.

my first hookah was a generic no name red egyptian hookah. My dad bought it for me when he was in Lebanon visiting his family in 2003.

My older brothers girlfriend broke it after about a year ... and then i gave the stem to a friend, moved on, and bought a new one.

Me and friend were tired of going out to the lounge when Calgary imputed a smoking ban so we decided to buy our own. We tracked H-S (through HF actually) and we both about Jr. Hookahs. Mine is sitting in its case never to be used again most likely given to someone who I'd like to have a hookah. I never got it to smoke well a lot of trail and error but now that I've moved on to my QT and KM I'm quite happy.

My first hookah was a no name egyptian from Dubai airport I bought on impulse for around $10. Used it a couple times before giving it away to a friend. I have since bought a Mya Bambino, what a difference! Love it to bits. The plan is to progress onto a larger hookah perhaps a KM, Mya or AF, once I begin college.

My first hookah was the Mya Bambino. Awaiting my new KM at the moment. Not that I don't love the Bambino! Except for it's cheap vase and itty bitty tray.

Love that spiral stem on the first hookah in the photo!

My first hookah I bought a couple of years ago, and I still have it. I went to the beach where some friends lived and they took me out to a local hookah bar. That was my first experience and fell in love with it immediately. I bought my hookah from that bar, seeing as how there wasn't anything like it back where I lived. I used my first hookah for a while. The only down side is that it was just the social smoke brand, which I later found out was horribly overpriced. But I guess it wasn't a horrible starter hookah. The upside is that I bought a couple of Nakhla 250g packs, and found one of my favorite tobacco brands from the start.

My 1st was an Egyptian from H-S in 2004, then a shitty little Junior. Then a rotator from H-S. All were within the span of a year. The first one I gave to my buddy when he left for college. After that were were a few others that I still have, like a Syrian with some marble on it, Mya QT (smoke almost every day with), another brass Syrian and a KM pear. Soon I'll add a Temsah wheat, AF solid or KM Kafae, just not sure which one yet...

Brass Egyptian, 28", purchased at the Fumari Lounge. $100, 1998. The shank's taper section is almost shattered from age, but it still holds pressure well. The jar developed a fatal, leaking crack about five years ago. Its retired for personal reasons. I also have the tray with dangly chains and coins on it.

I also have the second hookah I ever bought in 1999, a Syrian brass, 30", $65. Original jar. Still in use at the lounge.

The third hookah I ever bought in 2000, a Syrian brass, 34", $70. The original jar (that matched the second hookah I bought) was seized at the U.S. border as drug paraphernalia. I replaced it with the identical jar the same day on the way home from Mexico. That jar got broken at the lounge, and I replaced it with a pale blue Genie Bohemian jar with the wide, large gold foil on. I got it cheap because it had a chip in the flange that was glued back on. This hookah is also still in use, at the lounge.

I don't remember the chronology of any other hookahs I bought, unfortunately.

my first hookah was an egyptian sand filled pipe, being full of sand made it heavy, and weight is a sign of quality no? the vase had 3 gold rings and 3 pictures, 2 pharoahs and the pyramids at giza.
I stored it in my grandmothers garage for about 6 months in my grandmothers garage between moves and when I went to get it the hose was rusted out, from a flood. I thought, eh I can figure something out, who knows maybe they make replacement hoses? I get home, open the trunk and theres glass everywhere. My favorite part about that hookah was the vase. It was very nice. I haven't seen one like that since.

My first was an Egyptian Scarab from Hookah-Shisha several years ago. Wasn't great, but wasn't terrible either. However, it only survived about nine months; I got drunk, knocked it over, shattered the base, then tried to pick up the glass shards without a dustpan and sliced my hands open. With blood all over my hands, I inexplicably decided to throw away the stem, bowl, and hose as well, with lots of people watching me zombie-walking down the hallways carrying this shit and dripping blood. Really embarrassing in retrospect.

My first was a small piece of shit no-name several several years ago, probably 4-5 years? It smoke so shitty that I gave up hookah entirely and gave it to my friend, who later got it confiscated by the cops somehow (never heard the full story and don't really care). Then, the second hookah I bought was a 34" KM ice in dec 2008/jan 2009? About the same time I signed up with this forum. Then, a few weeks ago I bought 4 36" first gen AF hookahs off a guy on craigslist. I finally got time last night to check them over a little and pick out the one that I am keeping. My roommate and I took both my KM and the AF out last night to smoke, was truly awesome! Still like my KM a bit more though, but I think that is because the AF is so shiny that I feel I need to take extra care of it to make sure nothing happens to it.

My little cheap 22" Egyptian from HC. Still smoke out of it more than 2 and a half years after I bought it. Thing is taking the punishment and keeping on trucking. I have a small Syrian Nour now that I love, but I still smoke out of that Egyptian. Smoked Tangiers Chocomint out of it last night as a matter of fact!

My first was my Mya Bambino. Still have it and use it as a travel hookah. Bought it because I was graduating in a few months and wouldn't have access to the QT that two of my roommates had bought anymore. It still gets regular use, but I generally use my 39" KM Ice when I'm at home.

My first hookah was a 34" KM Kora Ice. It's the soccer ball KM with an ice chamber. I purchased it from a local shop before knowing really anything about hookah, but I'm glad I did. I still use it all the time. The only hookah I like more is my Exotica, and I prefer both my KM's far more than my Mya's (Gyro, QT, Mini acrylic, and a random 22" with a screw on base that my brother gave me) and my two Nour Syrians.
