JByer323
Flavor Reviewed: Starbuzz KiwiSetup: MYA QTMa’assel Total Weight: Seriously, I’ll get the scale cleaned off soon. But it was a sample, and about two bowls worth. Background: This is one of the four samples that Ali from Social Smoke (who offers a hookahforum.com discount) was kind enough to send my way. Since many of you were curious as to this flavor, I’ll review it first.Appearance: The anti-Tangiers. This is the most meticulously cut and sorted ma’assel I have ever encountered. No stems at all in the small amount I was sent. The cut of this is very small flakes, that honestly reminds me of various brands of smokeless powder. It’s all consistent, and all very finely cut, probably about a ¼ inch. The color has a slight golden tinge, not unlike what you would expect some apple flavored ma’assel to be. It was plenty moist, but not overly so. No backstroke here.Smell: It wasn’t the distinct kiwi smell, but it wasn’t unpleasant in the least. You either have smelled a kiwi or you haven’t, but those of you who have know what a unique fruit in both smell and taste it is. This smelled tropical with light floral hints, and was unlike most “tropical” mo’assels I have encountered, but I’m hesitant to call it kiwi.Flavor: And this is where we lost out. To start with, kiwi is a very complex flavor, more so then raspberry, blueberry, or your other typically hard to mimic flavors. This flavor gave a nasty surprise. On the inhale, a sharp, almost bitter chemical flavor, like nothing that you scented. It was disappointing to say the least. After you had inhaled, and as you held the smoke and then exhaled, there was a good fruit flavor, not quite kiwi, but as close as I would expect. The exhale was pleasant, but the inhale was just plain bad. Very disappointing from a company with as good a reputation as Starbuzz.Smoke Density: Fluffy, white, silky, and smooth.Roomnote: I smoked outside, so I really can’t tell you.Buzz: To be truthful, I didn’t smoke long enough to really comment. Starbuzz isn’t known for the buzz however, more a relaxing feeling.Overall Impressions: Disappointing. This wasn’t my hookah, but my friend cleans his after every smoke just how I showed him to, and the MYA is relatively new. It could have been an off day on my part with coals I guess, but I didn’t get any burning sensation, just the plain bitterness on the inhale. I wish I knew what to tell you guys, but this one stunned both my friend and I, as we have come to expect highly from Starbuzz. I did allow the second bowl to adjust more to humidity, and the results were close enough to the original that I can’t strongly recommend this flavor. Rating: 4.5 out of 10.0. Great Starbuzz quality, on everything but that inhale. Unfortunately, that ruined it. Great try, but I feel this one is a dud.

HookahCaterpillar
thats actually sad to hear. I never tried starbuzz because its way too rich for my blood but you would think there flavors would be amazing for 20$ a tin!! Thankgod it was a sample that would have been 20 bux down the drain.Would you compare the cut to al amir shisha?
JByer323
Let me know if you catch the same flavors that I did, or if it was varying tastes, as Tangiers says. You mentioned Ajax, and that may well have been part of the flavor I was getting on inhalation, though that isn't the whole taste.
