Tangiers And Nahkla Heavy...why?

Recommended Posts

I smoke nahkla and tangiers now as my staple tobaccos being I like that heavy tobacco/rich taste....not sure how to describe it. When I smoke with chicks I always pull out fantasia and tobaccos like that being thats all they like. I dont get anything out of it because it lacks that heavy feeling that makes up the smoke. Question is what is it that makes tobaccos like this differ? Is it just allot more refined and messed with than nak and tang? Sorry if this is a dumb question just curious.....

Also I am not saying chicks only smoke fantasia or these kind of tobaccos are girly.....just here the women seem to prefer them.

This girl does prefer the richer tasting tobacco, actually. I just try and stick with the lighter or herbal shishas for my health or blend lighter stuff with Nakhla because it really is rich and flavorful and I do love the taste. If health weren't a concern, it would probably be Nakhla all the way. Haven't tried Tangiers yet--don't wanna torture myself with how great it is and then not smoke it again.

My experience is limited here, but I'm guessing Nakhla is better because of the quality of the ingredients as well as more tobacco and less, well, syrupy stuff. In my mind I'm thinking of the difference between real vanilla extract and vanilla flavoring. Quality, man.

Chicks like candy flavors. My girlfriend is so picky with shisha its actually kinda ridiculous but I think thats with most girls. My girlfriend makes the worst faces when she doesn't like something its actually quite annoying haha.

Now I know why my mom said never say ew if you dont like it and act belligerent about it because its rude to people who like it.

they aren't the same nicotine. regulation is very low for hookah tobacco, just because it says .5% doesn't mean anything.

Tang is roughly 2.3%

Now that i re-read through erics message he sent me he said he would guesstimate nak to be about 20-40% of tangs nicotine so anywhere from .46% - .9%

My guess is that fant/af/etc. are about .05% maybe even lower.

when they wash it they remove nicotine and natural flavor from the tobacco.

To be honest, as long as it is "unwashed" I find the flavor to be much much better, more of a tobacco taste, in the end you will become accustomed to the buzz, so the nicotine levels shouldn't matter too too much, at least not to me, unless you smoke on occasion.

?

Do you think there's a huge difference in smoking Nakhla and Fantasia health-wise?

You would prob wanna ask Eric on that one.

Just from the fact that nakhla has more nicotine I would think Nak would be more unhealthy for you.

But then I would think (no real truth to this, just opinion) that fantasia and those brands a-like use chemicals/additives and what not for flavoring.

Might be, I'm not going to say anything conclusive because I really don't know much about this. But I would think that the most unhealthy part of hookah smoking was the use of coal, and not whether you smoke brand A, B or C.

I've never smoked Fantasia so I wouldn't comment on that. But I know that the more nicotine I smoke the more hungover I feel the next day. Love the taste, but it does a number on my system. I literally get nicotine hangovers. So I am just careful about how much I smoke.

definitely could be true ... to an extent.

That hangover like feeling is actually nicotine withdrawl. I recognized it from when I quit smoking and then a few months later starting smoking Nak/Tangiers. The amount you get smoking for a few hours one day will wear off fully by 24hrs, get a full concentration in your system and I find it takes 72-84hrs to clear it out fully.

it's definitely healthier than the other shit in the smoke I would say but it still does cause things :

The nicotine in smoke causes heart disease because it decreases oxygen to the heart, increases blood pressure and heart rate, increases blood clotting, and damages cells that line coronary arteries and other blood vessels.

You'll get vasoconstriction in all sorts of stimulants (what nicotine is), like amphetamine (adderall) or coke. Nicotine's not going to cause problems normally unless you are already out of shape and/or overweight. Also you would need to be a chronic user.

Agreed. Tangiers/Nak used to buzz me out of this world but after a few months of smoking these brands nearly exclusively I didn't feel it anymore. But on occasion I will get a nice buzz, and I love it wink.gif

I'm with you guys on this. Personally I don't think the brand (as far as washed/unwashed) would make a huge difference health wise. I actually remember stumbling across a patent for using a type of cellulose paper instead of tobacco. Would this be healthier even as just a carrier for the molasses/sugars/etc, IMO no prob not. You're inhaling smoke, it's unhealthy.

But I can't make an argument to the chemicals used in some of the "candy" shishas I would assume these have a higher probability of being more unhealthy, (like mt. dew using yellow 5) but I've been wrong before.

I read a scare article about how dangerous e-cigarettes were a few months ago....

I was referring to the raw tobacco nicotine vs. the processed nicotine amounts, Mattarios...you got them mixed together...

Tangiers' raw tobacco is about 2.3% nicotine, .4% in the finished product. Nakhla, I think from smoking it the other day, is around .08-.1% on the finished product. What the nicotine level is on the raw tobacco, I don't know...but.

Washing it removes nicotine.

So then if naks is .08-.1 fantasia and the like must be well below .05 then?

because there is NO WAY nakhla is only 1.5-2 times the strength of fantasia/starbuzz/af/etc.

My 10, 12, and 13 year old cousins were taking hits of AF and said they felt nothing (Their mom lets them every once and a while) ... I would never let them take a hit of nakhla. Heck even my father, he smoked ciggs for 25 years ... he said he gets a nice buzz from nakhla, AF ... he takes a few hits and says he's all set b/c he gets nothing out of it (he ONLY smokes for buzz really)

I just find it hard to believe if washed tobaccos such as AF are .05 how could nakhla only be .08-.1 ?
