Vladimir
I got surgery coming up, which also means lots of pain killers. I am pretty careful about mixing things in my body, but since moving back home I don't get much time to smoke (don't smoke around my brother) and since he happens to be starting school that week and I will be laying low for 1-2 weeks I'll have plenty of time... any reason to avoid the mix? TBatcho07
You should be safe, bud.I know I have all 4 wisdom teeth still and when I went to get them checked the doctor said smoking will complicate the process. But in your case you should be a ok. dakur001
I think the only reason to be concerned would be if you're the type to catch a really heavy buzz very easily, then the combination might be a little nauseating. Otherwise, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Good luck with the surgery, hope you recover quickly.

norcalsmoker
Nicotine itself is considered a mild pain killer... It dulls pain by interacting with receptor molecules in your brain...

Skiddles
What kind of surgery? If it's lungs then you definitely shouldn't smoke, lol. Just stay away from alcohol. Medication and alcohol make for horrible potions.
Codename067
If anything, do not smoke for that time period.
yashman19
I'm a big time medical type person, and I strongly advise against this. Under no circumstance do I recommend smoking while having surgery, it's just not safe...After the surgery is over though, you have my blessing. Maybe off of them by the time I am ready to get outside and smoke some hookah so maybe won't even matter.I'm having my gallbladder out on wednesday

redjako
With mouth surgery, any sort of "pull" will cause more bleeding...your wisdom teeth need to clot, the dentist will TELL you not to use straws. So, don't smoke hookah
steeeeeeve
I havent read the whole thread im short on time but i read the OPI underwent major surgery infact an 8 hour operation to have a metal plate in my face, the surgery even went through my mouth (the roof was cut away)i gave it 48 hours and then smoked there were no issues and i currently work on the NHS so im pretty well informed (nhs is national health service) That said nicotine does slow the healing process but i wouldnt worry too muchSteve
Dr. B
blood circulation is important to recovery, and nicotine tends to restrict it. give it a few days before you smoke again and don't jump right back in full-force when you do.anecdote: i smoked after a head injury about a week after it happened. I was taking hydrocodone and the only bad interaction I noticed was being able to hear my accelerated heartbeat a lot stronger, but that was more likely due to my ruptured ear drum.Ask your doctor. Stuie
If it's major now, cause nicotine can constrict blood flow slowing down healing time.If it's minor go for it.I had back surgery last August.... not much else I could do!

Vampy6997
I do know for breast enhancements, they require no smoking 6-8 weeks before the surgery, then also no smoking during the healing process. *shrugs* If it's a surgery...you should consult your doc about it. Even if someone in the forum were a doctor, none of us can advise you as far as what your doctor would feel is safe. Even on medical sites with doctors on it, they do mention to consult your physician, at the end of every response.
Vladimir
Thanks guys. I will probably be off pain killers by the time I want to smoke anyway... just my first surgery so makes me nervous .
