fifthmanstanding
So recently my KM base busted and I was looking for a new base online to buy. I found one at got-hookahs and also one at hookahjohn.com. The hookah john base was about $6 cheaper than the other and the picture looked pretty legit so I decided to go ahead an purchase it. I also bought new base grommets to go with it. Upon receiving the package I was less than happy to see that my KM base looks as if it had some sort of paint job on it instead of the frosted-ish glass. I also notice there was a distinct lack of khalil mamoon logo and arabic writing on the opposite side. The 'lion' on it is also pretty badly painted. I was further dismayed to find that the 'km base grommets' do not fit at all, they're much too small and oddly fit my MZ perfectly. I find myself wondering if the base is a fake or something. To it's credit it's very heavy and as thick as my original km base. So....has anyone else had this experience with hookah john product and is this a legit km base? I know km's are sometimes fickle about putting logos on things. Mind you, I'm in no way trying to insinuate negativity about the company's products, I'm just wondering if mayhaps I should send it back or not for a refund. thanks in advance. Zinite
KM does not make vases. They outsource their vases to another company. There is no such thing as a legit KM vase (even though some vases have 'Khaliil Mamoon' written on them... which is strange because KM spells their name Khalil Mamon). The paint job on any Egyptian vase is usually on par with Kindergarten finger painting anyways.

Some are jut too fat and you can't get them on while others are too thin but at least you can "fatten" your stem (no joke) by wrapping it with tap.OP, email me if you would like to discuss or call, I want to make sure this works out for you, thanksJohn

Mine is so solid, seems it would take rather a catastrophic accident to bust it. My condolences.QUOTE I found one at got-hookahs and also one at hookahjohn.com. But I knew that would be the case when I researched it. And the hose port is enormous, the grommet that came with it is barely big enough to make a good seal with my hoses. Yet the bowl grommet that came with it is really kind of too small. Fits the bowls, the bowls just barely fit the vase. My Phunnel fell right off my KM last night mid-session. Handmade stuff turns out inconsistencies in sizes and shapes. QUOTE I also notice there was a distinct lack of khalil mamoon logo and arabic writing on the opposite side. He has tons of fans here, and for good reason.

And the website on the box is, "www.khalilmaamoon.com." If I go to the link, I end up at HookahKings. But on the vase it's spelled, "Khalil Mamoon."And I should have read the whole thread first, I see John jumped right in there to help you out. That's why they love 'im here! ngraz617
Everything KM does is outsourced so it is KM just different vendors that make the stuff for KM vary their tollerances and painting rules
Sonthert
Whether its a KM vase or not matters little. It would be nice to have the right size vase (which it sounds like yours isn't). KM vases are made by one of two glass manufacturers in Cairo. I believe that vase is made by the same company that makes KM vases, it doesn't say "Khalil Maamon" on it (which is spelled differently by KM themselves). It doesn't really matter. I will say the vases that KM has been putting their name on are of inferior quality to the ones that don't have KM on them...from what I've seen. I would say get the right size, but don't worry about KM on it or not. The lions do look awful, though.
