gordonee
Looks very interesting but seems to be a time-consuming and expensive hobby. How much did you have to pay for all the equipment and lamps?

Charley
I used to have an indoor set up for tomatoes, basil, and thyme. nothing that elaborate tho. I believe it cost me less than $100 but i recycled ever thing i used to make it most of the stuff i got for free. if I ever do it again tho I am going to do it right more the way you have. twoapplesplease
HA thats funny yer wasting a lot of electricity there. You should be using a couple clamp lights with cfl's untill there atleast close to a foot tall.Nice setup for patio F/1 hybrid tomatoes though.alittle bit overkill for basil and herbs.A simple shelf floro tube setup should be all you need for basil and herbs. But hey it still awsome I love basil.too bad theres not a rosmary-basil flavored shisha mmmm...And mixed with lemon..oohhhhhyyeeeaaaaa..... twoapplesplease
Should work great for peppers, but it does look a little funny with those babby basils in there.I highly recomend the patio f-1 hybrid tomatos if you plan on growing any tomatos.bet you could finish them in 50 days hydroponicly.they are huge producers and tasty as well.grow 2ft tall with about 20 tennis ball sized tomatos or more. Charley
I managed to grow tomatoes with CFLs you just have to get them closer. also if i may make a suggestion go to any sporting goods store and get some thermal blankets there just sheets of mylar paper thin and you can get them for under a buck each they will maximize your lighting by reflecting the inderect light back much more efficiently than the white plastic your using.(oh and on a side note thread about indoor gardening+Idiots=me wondering how many ppl are going to get a vacation before this thread dies lol)
