just put ice in the bowl.....works a lot better

I assume you mean the vase. The problem with using ice in the hookah is that it cuts down the flavor. The colder the water, the thicker the smoke, the more diminished the flavor. The hotter the water, the thinner the smoke, the more intense the flavor.

Room temperature water. I've tried hot water from the faucet, ice cold water from the freezer, water with ice in the base, ice in the base and ice in the ice chamber. Sure cold smoke feels good, but the best flavor/smoke combo is room temperature water out of the faucet.

Agreed ... no matter what tobacco, room temp is always the best bet.

That made me giggle.
Personally i use room temp, which works great.......that being said dont be afraid to experiment with ice, and different water temperatures, find what works best for you.

Ive got 2 kms with ice chambers and it doesnt make a huge difference.

I have one, it's my first hookah, and I've had it for about a month. I have been experimenting with different materials in the ice chamber. Most of the time I have been using ice + salt, but we experimented with dry ice + 91% rubbing alcohol, which worked quite well.

Next thing to experiment with is going to be the dry ice + alcohol in the ice chamber and lukewarm water in the base. Next time I get together with Phil we'll test that out. I also plan on doing some experiments with the flammability of the dry ice + alcohol mix. My guess is that since CO2 is a fire suppressant it won't be flammable, but I'll need to test it and find out.

I have one and love it. The Ice doesn't add much but the look is very elegant. Haven't been smoking my big pipes lately but it's not one I am going to get rid of soon.
