Amn_sinclair
ok so i just need to know if this is normal. i recent made the switch from quick lights to cocos and ive been using 2 cocos on all my bowls tonight i wanted to use my extra small bowl and thought one coco would work. I always used one quick light for this bowl. One coco wasnt working worth a shit so i had to throw a second on and now its working. I just wanted to know if this is normal to have to use more cocos then qls?

Even if you have to use 2 Cocos where you used 1 QL in the past, Cocos should last significantly longer.
Amn_sinclair
yeah ive noticed they last a lot longer and i love that i was just really frustrated that i only lit one, then had to wait for a second to light. Wats the best way to cut them, and cut them before or after they are lit?

I score them with a steak knife, then when you get about 1/3 the way through the coal, tap the knife with a small hammer or blunt object. It should split right in half with minimal loss. the_cool
I think its all to do wtih surface area, the disc QL's have a larger SA than cocos which is why you need that extra coco. Id assume 2 cocos have a larger SA than 1 QL, so can i ask, does your one coal bowl smoke better with 2 cocos or with 1 ql? or are they the same? But yeh, cutting them is the best way to go if you wanna save coal. I used a saw and cut through it. You can use a hammer and chisel too (although it doesnt produce clean splits!)
