ryanang7
Hey guys, sorry if this has already been asked. I did a search and didn't find anything. I am using a mya phalcor hookah with 3 hoses and find that my hose adapters get gummed up after one smoke. The bearings stick and you have to suck very hard to get them unstuck. Is there a way to keep them clean for longer??
twoapplesplease
Not really.I'd just make it a one hose and take the bearing out of that port.Or just take out all the bearings and plug with thumbs when not smoking.
Genie
Use plastic bb's in the adapters instead, they don't get corroded and are cheap to replace. Sometimes they need to be sanded a bit to smooth them. Apologies if I'm not understanding the question, I don't have a hookah with hose adapters and am assuming that it's the ball bearing that is sticking? ilikemyusername
I know what you mean man, best thing you can do is just take the hose ports off and rinse them with water after a smoke, I have to deal with the same thing on my colossus. ryanang7
Yes, I am referring to the bearings. A friend of mine has a different mya hookah (i forget the model), and uses his hoses for 7 or 8 smokes with minor corrosion. I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong. ngraz617
I clean adapters with wire brush and use q-tip with oil on it at the base from the screw down or else hose slides out. I also rinse bb's and sit in oil a second. I never have that problem using this method. BB's are always free and don't hinder draw of smoke at all.. This has to be done after every few uses everytime you clean hookah.
K1024
i never have this problem, using a 4 hose mya obelisk. i think you might have to much water in the base or something...the only time ive ever had my ball bearings stuck was when something fell in there and jammed it up. I've been smoking this hookah every day for about a year and have never experienced that...
Genie
I find that the bb's are just so light, they allow for an easier purge. The ball bearing in my Bambino was fine for months and then it just started sticking. I always washed it well, but I guess over time the outside of it became less smooth and I think that's what caused it to start sticking in the purge. The problem for me wasn't corrosion, just that the bearing didn't roll around as easily anymore because it wasn't smooth anymore. In the KM I had a clay ball and it wasn't smooth at all. But it was really light and purged great, except that it whistled! Put a ball bearing in it and it whistled too, but not as badly. Put the plastic bb in there and now it makes no noise at all and purges perfectly.I think the weight of the ball bearing itself is a problem in some purge valves. And then, as it loses its smooth, shiny exterior, it just starts to stick.

ilikemyusername
wait, are you talking about them getting gummed up with shisha sticky juice or corrosion?
Hippo_Master
Hmm, my Mya is the complete opposite of yours, my gaskets get all greasy after a session and they slide out so I have to wash out the adapter and the gasket. Maybe out some veggie/olive oil on your ball bearings?
ngraz617
Silly question, where does one find a plastic BB? Do you have to buy them buy the box? If so does someone want to mail me a few?

Can't bring myself to spend $11 on a package of them, which is what they're going for at Wal-Mart, and can't find any friends or family who have a stash of plastic bb's anywhere. Annoying. If I lose this one bb I have, it's going to suck!If I break down and buy a package (they come in these large, clear, plastic jar/bottle things) I promise I'll share! I do have to leave my little rural town for the weekend, it would be quite easy to stop and pick up a tub of bb's. I certainly don't mind stuffing them in envelopes and mailing them to whoever wants them.

I just haven't seen a smaller container of them. Not yet anyway. Going into the city this weekend so hope to get some. And if I do, I'll let everybody know! Ar. It's Talk Like a Pirate Day, had to throw that in there.
Genie
Bought the bb's!!! They're smooth, plastic, and glow in the dark. And the one I just threw in my KM is working great. Anybody can PM me if you want me to toss some in an envelope and send them to you. I'm asking $1 for 6 bb's, will cover the cost of the stamp since I'm just going to throw them in an envelope and send them to whoever wants them. And I'll have change leftover to help pay for the price of the jar of bb's I bought, which was just under $6.
