Making a Hookah Table

Recommended Posts

I was just reading over mushrats thread and smoething occured to me.  Making a hookah table, at home should be fairly simple.  Working with wood is much easier than working with metal.  Making an actual hookah by hand that looks nice is tough but making a table...thats simple.  The tricky part is boing to be boring holes for tubing but I think that it could be done with tools in the average home workshop.  It would allow people to create a table that fit their design methods.  For example, I really like playing chess and smoking, a table with both incorporated would be great (I know it exists already).  Perhaps if I had more free time I might try to do this. I think that by using tubing from homedepot some basic tools, nice varnish, a good saw, a lathe and/or a power sander, an old hookah (for attachments) one might be able to make a sweet hookah table.  I think that it would be easiest if it had straight legs.  The trick would be to break your legs into sections and drill each section out.  Then reassemble the legs with good clue and some notching.  Fill the crack with wood moulding, sand and varnish no one would ever know.  Maybe not as strong as solid oak but hey it would work.  It would make a cool and useful summer project.  Just thought I would toss taht out there.

because everything is easily hidden in the table I think what you would do is just use pvc, connectors from home depot and theoretically the whole thing should unscrew.  I dont know I was just kinda inspired by the lackluster success of mushrats

I would rather use galvanized pipes than pvc because the air drawn straight from the bowl will be very hot and it might release toxic chemicals in PVC. Also galvanized pipes are stainless and screw on so it would be much easier to clean

You're going to want to use something that is food grade if you can. Or at least I would.I agree that the table would be the easy (and the enjoyable) part. I regret I no longer have accses to the needed equipment. Designingg the hookah would take some work.
