Priapus
hey all,i gunna need some help.its been awhile since i set myself up a bowl as my hookah was broke, but i finally got my spare back from a mate of mine. why is it when women bat their baby blues at men, we fold? anyways, got it back last night after a month and half, and preped a bowl of naks orange. so, i poked the holes in my usual way, got my red hot coal (jap silver) put it on my bowl and started to smoke. smoke was real thin, like ciggy thin, but it tickled the back of my throat. i thought to myself, its just warming up, it'll fix itself in a bit. so, i carried on watching Star Wars - episode 4, taking a toke every half minute or so. next thing i know, its been 30 minutes, coals half gone, smoke still uber thin, and my throat is FUBARed, and i'm like ?WTF?because of the tickle, i thought i'd burnt it, but then thought thin smoke.hit pause, took the foil off, and it looks normal. ie, most of the top layer crispy, then fine underneath. baffled, i called it a bad day, switched everything off, and went to sleep.tried again today and still, no joy. i know i'm abit rusty, but not that much.Naks cherry worked fine in the very same setup. same hookah, bowl and hole pattern.i know Nak likes more heat, but i dunno, cherry was fine with 1 jap silver... why not orange?does anyone know if naks orange needs more heat then others? i ask cos the tickle thing has me baffled to the point i cant even fin watching Star Wars. For the Sake Of The Force, Please Help!May The Buzz Be With You. chinamon
if the nakhla cherry worked fine with the exact same setup them i would guess that the nakhla orange is too dry.
Arcane
i know with Tangiers, some flavors require different heat....i haven't experienced much variance in regards to flavor differences in Nak...i know the Mizo line takes less heat than the regular line though... Balthazar
QUOTE (Priapus @ Sep 17 2009, 11:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>so, should i add glycerin or more coal?or both?maybe 2 silver japs? or 1 sliver jap + windcover? using my small egyptian... she broke my med bowl.i hate it when they bat their baby blues. just, no defence. For me, even 2 silver japs sounds like not enough coal. Most Nakhla flavors can take some serious amount of heat, I know this to be the case for both Orange and Mandarin. I usually start out with 2 cocobricos (which burns a lot hotter than silver japs), often adding the third after about 15 minutes, and a fourth after about 45 mins. mattarios2
Pack the bowl tighter, add a lil more heat, and voila. No matter how dry nak is you can always make it smoke really well. The drier it is, the more you should pack into the bowl!
