fcbayern
Hey guys! Well my life long dream has been to learn to fly and to get me private pilots lic. It looks like I can finally afford to do this... I was wondering if any of you guys have Pilots lic, and if you had any tips? I have checked out some flight schools at the local airfield and the costs vary greatly.. some schools give a flat fee, while others charge for the plane, fuel, intructor time, all seperate... Any ideas on why this is?
alexander
Getting my pilots license was one of the hardest, most rewarding things I've ever done in my life. While I only have my student license (slowly working on my private), I still think that I might be able to give you a few tips. One of the most important things when you're learning to fly is to have an instructor that you get along with well. Learning to fly is fun, but it can also be extremely stressful because of the precision that is involved. My dad taught me how to fly (he's a CFI), and I think that was one of the most important factors in my success. Since I got along with him really well, I could just focus on the flying itself and not worry about the stress of not getting along with him. As far as the flying itself goes, the most important thing to remember is to never stop flying the airplane. It doesn't matter if you're in a full flap, high pitch attitude, stalled configuration with no engine 25 feet off the ground, do your best to fly the airplane on to the ground. It will always turn out better than if you just give up because you think there's nothing you can do. That being said, you also need to be extremely observant so you never get yourself into that kind of situation. And if you can, learn to fly in a high-wing airplane. They're so much more fun Here's what I soloed in:1954 Cessna 170BGood luck bro! You won't regret learning how to fly. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away. alexander
Hm, for some reason I can't seem to edit my post, oh well.I really don't know much about flight schools, a flat rate might be more economical than an hourly charge, but that really depends on how much time you need to get it done. Since I had a fair amount of experience fun flying with my dad before I started any kind of formal instruction, it only took about 10 hours for me to be able to solo. I don't think it would take more than around 15 for you to solo. I really wish I could be of more help in this area.
arzan87
If you're in the States, goto Texas.. flying school work out to be the cheapest there because they're super efficient at getting you through your license. I'm a Private Pilot in Perth, Australia. Doing my commercial outa Jandakot. Find a school that will give you only 1 intructor, fly regularly, because if you fail an aspect of any flight, you have to redo it. So my suggestion is find a school that gives you a dedicated instructor (so he's not always booked out) and flying till SOLO continuosly. Also climate in Texas is ideal for flying.I gota goto work now, so escuse and spelling errorsThanks
