Majid
Just thought i'd open an MMA topic here! Watched UFC 103 yesterday and really enjoyed it. Anybody follow the sport around here? I'm a big MMA and kickboxing fan myself.
Giant Ninja Robot
Yeah, I've been getting into MMA this year.I'll be watching UFC 103 in a few minutes actually. I'm still an MMA n00b, but I've always enjoyed fighting and can't get enough. I like watching Ultimate Fighter as well, although this season Rampage and Evans might turn me off to it....Rampage is an idiot and Rashad just kinda irks me for some reason. newjacksm
Lol I love Rampage.. But UFC 103 was kind of dissapointing I was expecting wars, not people to lay down. I heard the prelims were really good. The freefights were better then the PPV I heard. Check out UFC Fightnight 19 those fights were wars and over all really good.Iv always liked MMA since the Pride days, but been following it almost every day for about a year Edited September 20, 2009 by newjacksm
Scoop
ufc 103 was a throw away. they just put up a shitty card to screw with the boxing event (garbage.. mayweather didn't even make weight). the ufc was ultra boring.
Dr. B
i wonder what gaia thinks of mma...?/bait.I enjoy watching it at the bars or whatever, but I probly wouldnt order it for my own viewing pleasure.
Giant Ninja Robot
Just finished 103 and it was pretty boring. Not a single fight that really dropped my jaw or captivated me. That Brit that had his debut taking Swick's place was petty good though.

SeaBass
Im a huge mma fanboy haha.I didn't get the chance to watch UFC 103, although i will be within the next day and I'll post what i think.I did, however, read the sherdog liveblog, so i know a bit about what happened. If Vitor Belfort really has regained the fire he had before the tragic incident with his sister, watch out. The LHW belt might not be on Machida for as long as everyone thought, and if the match is made, he could stand a legitimate chance at beating Anderson Silva.Junior Dos Santos has now established himself as a legitimate contender in the HW division, and making Cro Cop verbally submit takes a HUGE punch. The man worked at the highest level of anti terrorism in Croatia for 6 year, hes definitely tough. seeing JDS fight someone like Cain Velasquez would be awesome. And Frank Trigg is old and tired. Hes done.Ill post more about what i thought about the fights when i see them later
Scoop
crocop has no desire to fight in the ufc. he was offered huge numbers to come back, only reason he even came. i think hes just in it for the money, shows in his fighting.
SeaBass
You're probably right. His record in Japan is outstanding, maybe he should just go fight in DREAM.

Bulldog_916
I love MMA, it's one of the things I like doing hookah and watching in the garage. WEC is rising on my list of good promotions which are getting better. I do like UFC. I like watching the techniques in the chess match that is martial arts. It really is like a chess match, it can go 3 moves or it can go a marathon of moves until one person is check mated.
Giant Ninja Robot
Does WEC even show new events? All I ever see is reruns of Mike Brown and Uriah Faber on VS.

Arcane
been watching since UFC 1...still remember the first time i saw gracie and shamrock fight...its what got me interested in grappling/jiu-jitsu.i do think it was more "martial arts vs. martial arts" back in the days...the only thing i miss about the older events was if you were a grappler...you felt a bit of pride when your discipline won. the shift to becoming more "fighter vs. fighter" isn't all bad. i guess if you train at a certain camp, then you can be happy for one of your training partners...but, that kinda limits things.i guess now, you're pretty much either a fan of a fighter or not....you don't really take into consideration discipline, since most people train several... Amn_sinclair
i love keeping up with ufc but right now my access to it is y limited seeing as how i dont have afn here at my house. Afn gets me free fights becuase im an american military over seas. I dont have internet at my house, and most bars around here close at 2, or at least bars that would play ufc. The fights usually dont start till 3 am here. So yeah keeping up with ufc is a little hard. Although my favorite fighter is diego sanchez because he is from new mexico. i think hes got a good shot at the belt against penn
Arcane
meh...sanchez is blah....penn > lightweight division.

I love his old fights too when he was in a different weight class.he was always a little to small for the heavier weights. i think he may have found the right weight now. i was watching ufc 96 i think i cant remember when he was fighting in the third round he was no the dudes back and thez stood up and deigo wouldnt get off his back for like 3 minutes
newjacksm
Yeah I know this is the perfect weight for him but even at WW he was in he was nasty. He destroyed Brian Gassaway at UFC 55. But it isn't a surprise that he is more explosive at LW then he was at WW. Amn_sinclair
i really think he has a great shot at beating penn. Honestly if he can do that i dont think anyone would be able to take that title away from him for a while. Win or lose id like to see penn go back to welter weight and try for the title there again. That would be a great fight!
