theres more of a demand for them and the manufacturer knows it..so they wana cash in while they can..but the prices are just stupid high now..i got lucky and got a brand new 35'' km tri-metal for only $100 but the site doesnt take online orders at the moment..but has for me theres no way i will spend more then $125 on a hookah..

prices have gone up.

what happened? we all bought KM pipes due to word of mouth because of their quality and KM said "hey these victims...ehem, costumers over in the US will pay a shitton more than they rightly should because of the streetcred the brand now has"

then they followed through.

I hear MZ is still around and Tamseh is an up and comer smile.gif

I like the Temsehs and hope they rise...I have too many hookahs for being a college student right now to get one...

KMs-supply and demand...anything that people highly like, will go up in price, blame corporate pigs

yea. exactly what i thought. that is ridiculous. If it was good they shouldve produced more, now their sales are gonna drop and they're popularity will drop back down. sad.gif . well i know thehookah has many cheeper kms, but my friend bought a ice chiller 3 months ago and man, was that thing light. it was literally the weight of my trimetals downstem. what is km doing?

how do we know that it is the manufacturer that is raising the prices?
it might be the american importer that is raising the prices because they know more about the north american demand than anybody else.
they might also be blaming the price increase on the manufacturer so they dont look greedy.
this kind of shit happens everywhere.

i wouldnt put it past them...they are in the business of making money but how much? when does making a profit end and greed kick in? i think it will hurt vendors real bad cause they will be stocked up on all this higher priced km's collecting dust and people buying all the other lower priced ones..notice i didnt say lower brand..i just said lower priced..there are a ton of good hookahs out there for under $100 and just like the op reconized the price increase and said wtf..others will to..

I'm so glad I picked up my KM Sig Ice last year. $125 or so from Trading Caravan Company on Ebay. Woot!

Though they gave me their super tough base with it, instead of the KM base, but I just bought one from John, so it's still good. Though the gold paint wore off of it. Pff.

What was the price for a single pear a year ago? I'm seeing them going around $110 on Nazarhookah. Is $20 really such a huge fuss? Mya's are machine made mass produced pieces and those things easily go over a $100 and no one's really complaining.

i remember when the mash'al came out for $140 with the bohemian vase and i thought god damn thats expensive. now its a super steal at that price. trimetals for 200+ are pretty damn expensive imo.

Yep, KM prices have gone up, according to the importers it's from Egypt. MZ's will be scarce and may be out of business. Temsah's are here but selling slow even though the same quality and build as KM, and much cheaper.
Also, there should be more Temsah relatively soon. As usual, it seems like everything is going up in price, not just hookahs.

There's a reason prices are going up. The price of constructing a metal and glass device is going up. Commodity prices and competition from China for metal is causing industry to scour areas for scrap stainless steel or other metals like copper and brass. I'm sure labor is becoming more expensive because it's no longer unpaid or low-paid labor that's constructing the hookahs, it's decently paid workers. Plus the cost of transporting cargo or freight via ship or plane is getting more expensive with the cost of oil returning to a 70-85 dollar a barrel level. Back in '08, '07, '06 most of the stock was either already here or was inexpensive to retrieve through distributors who already had back-stock. Now all the back stock is gone, forcing distributors to buy the stock as it's coming out of the factory, paying partially for the cost of transporting the cargo. Mark-up, mark-up, mark-up. Soon you see these prices. It seems like at every level it's getting harder to keep prices down.
