evlpengwyn
So last night I was taking my hookah down after a nice session with some OG tang pear... I was holding the neck of the base with one hand so that it was flush against the counter, and using my other hand to gently wiggle the stem out, then *pop*! One corner of the base just snapped off and all of the water gushed out on the floor. The glass looks just slightly thicker than paper, I'll try to post pics later when I'm home. It's pretty disappointing... I spent over $200 on this hookah and it breaks from just sitting on the counter less than a month later. Hookah-Shisha support gave me $20 in rewards points that I can use towards a new base, I want to get this one in black: http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-2680-mya-ho...nt-pyramid.html but they don't have black in stock. I'll probably wait til they have it in stock, but does anyone have any recommendations for other bases I could get?

evlpengwyn
Yeah, I'm sending a message to Mya right now expressing my outrage over the "poor quality of the product I received" I can only hope they'll send me a thicker replacement. evlpengwyn
Guh, Mya's "Contact Us" page doesn't even work, it gives a "Page you requested was not found on our server" error!

evlpengwyn
So I called Mya up... in short, it was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The man I spoke to had a pretty thick accent, and when I told him I was disappointed by the poor quality of the base, he said he took that as a personal insult and told me I should have returned the product as soon as I got it if I wasn't happy with it. He didn't believe the glass could break "by itself", but take a look at the pics (sorry for the fuzziness, it's not an incredible camera). You can see that the corner is about the same thickness as a dime where it broke.
twoapplesplease
I know we've all seen some posts about mya's quallity taking a dip.I'm glad I got the 22' inch globe with bohemian glass 2 years ago.Its been my travel pipe and has taken some abuse and it still looks new. That small little bohemian vase weighs much more than the giant glass vase that came with my KM.Sorry for your loss bro hope they give ya some kick back or something. Anyone have any suggestions for a new base that would fit my stem (and preferrably match)?
Stuie
I am sorry to see that. My Obelisk Base is thin but not that thin. I have a Mya stem on a Bohemian Base from HC. Most of their larges fit well with that mya stem.
hookah hippie
sorry about your lossI am looking at the one mya i own and the base is quite thick its from a mya paragon and it seems really heavygood luck
JDHarding
Wow.. if you look at it, that glass is super shitty thin..The base you want to get is super tough stuff.. I had a Paragon with the same base, and it's tough! It's heavy too! You won't be disappointed with it.Edit: You know.. I don't think that's a real Mya base. Mya makes pretty thick bases. No wonder he took it as a personal insult. I think whoever sold you the pipe sent you a fake! Some sort of Mya knockoff base. They may not even know it wasn't Mya-made. You should look into it further. Edited September 25, 2009 by JDHarding
Scoop
most likely its real.there have been alot of posts a year ago or so about mya vases breaking ridiculously easily. if thats the way they create their customers then i am proud not to support their scummy business. Do they make their bases by hand or with machines? The glass may have supposed to have been thicker, but perhaps you got a dud base. Maybe one run of bases were made thinner somehow. Mya's always had thick-ass bases, so.. I dunno how this could have happened.

I think Mya just has some issues with quality control, or they're trying to cut costs at the expense of the customer.QUOTE (JDHarding @ Sep 25 2009, 03:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>It could have been a production error. Zinite
Email them at custserv@myasaray.com, include pictures and tell them that you want to exchange the base. Tell them that the glass was incredibly thin and low quality, and if they don't want to exchange the base, you want to return the entire hookah to them. They'll say no, but keep at it and ask for supervisors.
JDHarding
Yeah, kick some MYA customer service butt! They eventually gotta listen. I mean.. they should replace the base completely, not take offense. Customer service didn't hand-blow it.

JOE
was there an air bubble or something in the glass causing it to be that thin right there? or is the whole base like that?
