Mesh Coal Cage Idea

I've been thinking about this idea I had..

It's a piece of mesh wire, cut into a round shape about 1/2 an inch bigger than your bowl. The edge has been raised on it, and it fits on top of your bowl over the foil. There's a couple little anchors on it that puncture into the foil to hold it in place. Because of the raised edge, it keeps your coals from falling off of your bowl if the pipe is bumped or moved. It can also help with anyone that likes to hang their coals off the sides of the bowl. This way they'll stay there and not fall off.

I'd draw it up, but I'm too lazy.

i think it would be a little heavy and ruin the foil.

For falling coals, its easier to just wrap foil around the bowl to create a wall. As for coals that are hanging off, im sure some people think hanging coals is wastage and you should cut them into halves and not have them hang off at all. But for those who like to have coals hanging, maybe your idea would work. Edited September 29, 2009 by the_cool

The Iranians already beat you to it. Sadly I can't seem to find a picture, but they do have wire cages around their bowls so the coals don't fall off.

actually, the cages are for pileing your tobacco above the top of the bowl I believe. It's for smoking the traditional direct heat tobaccos.

I've been trying to get a few of those bowls for a few years now.
