Losing The Taste/flavor

Recommended Posts

so i started smoking about two months ago and i loved that first drag i took. i had a tin of al fakher grape and it was such a distinguished taste and flavor. nowadays, i can barely taste any of the flavors i smoke. for instance, orange al fakher is a very strong flavor. i loved it the first few times i smoked it - the citrus was very distinct. now i can barely taste the smoke or smell the smoke.

to sum up, any of you guys on the forum experience the whole "losing taste/smell/flavor" phenomenon? is it cause im smoking too much (everyday) and that my senses are getting used to the shisha? im curious to see what you guys think.

I smoke every day and never lose the taste for it. I'm guessing your tobacco wasn't properly stored and your packing/heat managment were off.

i keep my al fakher in the tubs they come in. i think my nasal cavities are a little skewed, because i sleep with a breathing apparatus that dries up my nose.

so i cleaned my pipe out, packed by bowl the way i use to (a little lower), and double wrapped the foil, and it seemed to have helped!

heat management and packing issues indeed. and the cleaning might have helped too (although i cleaned it a week ago).

thx for the advice guys!

i think most of my problem had to do with heat management. its only up until recently that i started single foiling the bowl and i'd get HUGE clouds but less flavor smile.gif

problem solved (hopefully)

i forgot to add that i went back to double wrapping the foil. wooord.

I can barely taste any of my shisha lately but I know it's because of allergies. It's just that time of year here with the changing of the season. In fact, I've had to lay off hookah for the last week, keeps making me feel unwell and headachy and I'm not enjoying it anyway because of the allergies. Will be really glad when some of this pollen has settled. I miss the enjoyment of hookah.

Its allergies for me too, I live in Nevada and allergic to sagebrush pollen.(and Nevada is ALL sagebrush)

Purple sage (not really a sage) is one of the culprits here. And it's blooming madly.

NHT related? lol

I suppose your talking about the "purple sage" ""Leucophyllum frutescens"", which as far as I know cant be made into tea to cure sinus problems, and is found only in Texas.

The "Purple Sage" that can be used to make a tea to decrease sweating, salivation, and mucous secretions in the sinuses, throat, and lungs. and can be used as a stomach tonic and to cure sore throats is ""Salvia dorrii"" not found in Texas.
I don't want to get into it more in fear of getting in trouble. Edited by Evilsquirrel

I never implied it could be used to cure sinus problems. What I said was that I heard it could be used to ease chest congestion. Doesn't mean I believe it. People around here pick the blossoms, make a tea with it, and drink it and swear it helps them get over chest colds. Personally, I have no interest in trying it. If the deer won't even eat it then I'm not going to attempt ingesting it in any form. Me? I prefer a big ol' plate of something super hot and spicy as a remedy any kind of congestion--even if it's only short term.
