detroitmak
Alright so last week at my local shop in dearborn, i picked up a bunch of nakhla and i asked the guy why dosnt he carry coconara... he said he does, i have them 10/$1 loose over there... so i run... 10/$1 is cheap! They are Al-Fakher, not coco's, i told him he lied, he was like, nah, all cocos are the same. Whatever... i learned thats not the case with shishaco... Anyways he throws in 4 in my bag and says try them out. So I do... Im not really impressed, each one is a bit different in shape, no biggie, but then I had to relight it twice, and the ash on one of them was colored... seriously it had a bronze tint to it. Anyways Coconara has been too kind to me, i dunno if im ready to try another brand, maybe the CH naturals, but im unsure quite yet. What has been your experience with Al Fakher Coconut Coals? What has been your experience with Al Fakher Coconut Coals?I wasn't impressed with them. Like you, I found them to be inconsistent in shape and I didn't think they burned as well as Shishaco's (one of my favorite coals on the planet) or Coco's. They're also a tiny bit smaller than Coco's and Shishaco's. They're okay, but just okay. Can't say I found any colored ones in the batch or had any problems with any of them having to be re-lit. But it was a small box that I had purchased. Edited October 3, 2009 by Genie

mitchard
http://www.hookahforum.com/?showtopic=29526#entry354904I did that awhile back.I just got a few more boxes from HC yesterday, and so far the coal shapes are HORRIBLE. So inconsistant. Many of them have rounded sides so there don't sit flush on the bowl. Some are 1/2 inch thick, others are close to 1/4 inch. None are perfect squares like most/all CH or Coconaraa. However, the coals with good shape are still better than Coconaras and the CH coals in both smell, taste and longevity. I just don't think i'll be ordering them again if the other 3 boxes I have are shaped as bad as this one is. I can probable salvage a bunch of them by splitting them in half to create flat edges, but thats still too much effort.
