Problems With New Km Double Pair

Recommended Posts

So to make it plain and simple, I recently ordered a black Km Double Pear through Hookah John. His custom make with a Narbish hose and all that. Now I have never owned a Km just a Mya Acrylic. I had done my first session today, and it was the worst session I had ever had. I was so mad. I packed some Nakhla my normal technique that always works for my Mya, Been doing it forever.

So I lit up the bowl and was getting the coldest weirdest smoke I have ever gotten. I used a phunnel bowl and started out with 3 CocoNara's. It wasn't really harsh it felt like it was just cold air coming it, the smoke was thick but very little. I got bigger clouds with my Mya. I tryed to add more heat and everything didn't work. I called John and he tryed to help me but he didn't figure out what was wrong. I had all the grommets and everything but the hit was so weird and so weak. I feel like I wasted my money.

Maybe it was because I was outside and it was around 55 degrees? I'm not sure but my throat is killing me from taking huge hits to try and get decent smoke. I took some pictures so you guys can see exactly how everything was setup.

Thats all I Got for you, I use that technique all the time, it always works. I've done my Mya in this weather before, Worked fine. I don't know whats wrong but I hate wasting charcoals and getting setup to have a nice session with my new hookah and finding out it doesn't work. I've never used a Narbish maybe its a little thicker then Km Ultimate that I use with my Mya? Not sure but does anyone have any suggestions? John suggested putting some wholes in the middle of the phunnel which I never do and I did and it was a easier pull but nothing to easy. At first before I had water 2 inches above the downstem and the pull was so hard you don't understand. I let some out and it was so pretty bad. So yea, I really hate bothering John and want to use calling him (Again) as a last resort. Please let me know. Thanks. Edited by Brandon`

I've smoked outside in the weather before and it doesn't seem to make a difference with my Mya. The ball is in there forsure and i'm pretty sure its not stuck otherwise i'm assuming the pull would be much harder then it already is as it's not that hard. Doesn't seem blocked but I have no idea how to get this thing going good...

Try a few different things to work out what the problem is, try using the pipe you use with the MYA on the KM, try swapping a lit bowl between the two hookahs and see if it improves.

To make the pull easier, forget about puttin a hole in the middle, take some of the water out, submerge it about an inch. More water makes a harder pull and less gives an easier pull.

I dunno if its just me, but I think taller hookahs smoke really differently to smaller ones, My KM exotica is somewhat a different smoke that other smaller hookahs I smoke from (although the other smaller hookahs dont use phunnel, naturals etc etc so it could be due to that)

oh and good on you for posting pics from the get go, thats how all problem threads should be like! Edited by the_cool

Thanks, I tryed my Mya hose and was still hard to pull, U are right about the water level because as I stated above as soon as I took more water out it was alot easier to pull. I find that true to, My Mya was alot smaller and was alot easier to smoke (So far). I always use phunnel and coco's with my hookahs I haven't used a regular bowl in almost a year..

So basically it isnt a problem with the hookah, but just that YOU have to learn to work with a new hookah. Unless you find an air leak or something that is. To check for air leaks, set it up as you normally would, instead of putting a bowl on top put your hand over it to plug the top and try to hit it. If you get air it's leaking someplace. Also make sure your purge valve ball isn't stuck open so you are pulling air through the valve instead of through the bowl. Other than that you shouldn't be suprised that different pipes smoke differently.

Shouldn't blame your tools. wink.gif

I feel so stupid. After the session, I didn't clean the hookah. I went down to just go clean and look around it for air leaks or anything and I found the problem. I feel bad for wasting John's time and all you guys times. There was something in the downstem. Heres a pic.

I haven't smoked it yet since I took it out but i'm sure that was the problem.. It looks like a piece of package foam. I'm sure I checked the downstem before I think it was stuck in the host valve then after we started the session ended up finding its way down. Sorry. I'll let you know how it smokes my next session.
