Copper Stem?

My chineese hookah has a copper stem. It was really dirty so I cleaned
it with 00 Steel Wool (I clean guns and thought that would work good)
and now my dad says that I made the copper raw and its poisonious to
smoke out of now. I smoked two bowls out of it after cleaning it with
the wool and it did'nt taste any different. There was a little green
rust but it cleaned off with towel.

So is it safe to use or not?

It's ok.
Not to correct your dad, but you drink out of copper pipes all the time. Don't use a copper bowl to smoke out of mind you, but you should be ok.

yea plus it gets filtered through the water so you shouldnt have any particles entering your system.

I have been smoking through copper stem for years and years I am fine... oh... what..  lol... its okay... It just rusts a little and you shouldn't disturb that rust.

Also, soda machines serviced by copper pipe are required by law to have back-flow preventers. Copper and carbonated water for a poisonous mixture (carbonates??). It was funny...my carbonator check valve got blocked and backed carbonation all up into the water lines! It was funny...the toilet had carbonated water in it!
