norcalsmoker
My Girlfriend is highly allergic to Maraschino Cherries, her throat closes up and she has a hard time breathing. I'm not sure of the process of producing tangiers and am wondering if it would be safe for her to smoke Maraschino Cherry? Eric will probably be the only one able to answer this but all input is appreciated. Thanks!

joytron
how can you be allergic to maraschino cherries? they are just regular cherries preserved, in which case i am pretty sure the Tangiers flavor is synthetic. On a side note i would take the risk
hookah hippie
i did hear a report on the forum a few years ago about a man who was allergic to bananas tried smoking banana flavored shisha. He reported becoming very nauseated and concluded it was due to his allergen i would say don't smoke the flavor
ilikemyusername
she's likely sensitive to the dye in marachino cherries. sodium metabisulfite is in them as well.
Rani
Ahem..... She's the one with the potential allergy and she's a grown up. She gets to make the decisions to try it or not. All on her own knowing the potential consequences. You get to man the phone should a reaction occur. 'Rani

Stuie
Here's the poor mans allergy test. With a hot wash cloth, clean the back of one of her hands.Put a piece of the tobacco on her hand for 10 minutes. Any reaction. Don't. If not, might be worth a puff or two to see. delSol_si
I'm a huge fan of learning by trial and error personally (and I have the scars to prove it). I'd say try it as long as you are sure it won't kill her. A little pain never hurts anyone.

Jabbles180
If you want to test it out i still have form OG M.cherry, might finally be the time to come and get that session together. I would say that the flavor is synthetic as i didnt see a jar of cherries at Eric's lounge haha. It's worth a try if you have it around. If your ordering it then i would just pick a different flavor. Sonthert
Try dipping your finger in the juice and getting a little on your finger and smearing just a little bit on the underside of her forearm, below the wrist (where there is no hair). If the skin gets locally irritated and red, especially if hives are present, don't smoke it. If it doesn't and you decide to take the risk, have either her epi-pen closeby or get two benadryl (or other diphenhydramine-containing antihistamine) and crush them up into a fine powder. If she begins to have a reaction, have her snort the benadryl into her nose. It sounds a little sketchy, but it will provide very fast relief. I do this for my severe allergy to some tree nuts. It would be better not to try smoking it all, but in case you insist on it, thats what I would do. I would guess that the allergic reaction is limited to cherries themselves. If she is allergic to Amaretto though, stay away!Edit: The juice from the tobacco. Dip your finger in the juice from the tobacco, smear a little on her forearm. Sorry about that. The juice will feel "warm" because of the glycerine, but irritation or a reaction on her skin is what you need to be worried about.

And I say that rudely because you are playing with someones health and minimizing the threat of a throat closing up due to an allergic reaction.Ever had to call an ambulance? Many times ~40 minutes out.
