rhineholt Posted October 5, 2009 Share Posted October 5, 2009 I left college this weekend only to come back and find out a shit ton has went down.For starters, on Friday night, one girl that goes here decided to bring 2 friends from back at home, one of which she didn't even know. They went to a party where the guy she didn't know proceeded to get drunk off his butt. Anyways, he decided to go outside and do NHT and ended up drinking so much, he passed out and became unresponsive. The paramedics ended up coming and taking him away. While all of this happened, the girl who brought him, left.While this was all happening, the other guy she brought, ended up raping one girl. That guy left. If that wasn't enough, while the girl that got raped was sleeping, she ended up getting raped again. She ended up going to the hospital for internal bleeding.I'm getting kinda nervous, not of my well-being, but of the people that I've met. This has been the third rape I've known of at this campus.Any suggestions on what i could do to keep my friends safe?Btw, I'm not into that whole drinking scene, but my friends are. If you're not into the huge house party shindig, stay away and have something for you and a couple of good friends. I've been doing that for the past two and a half years, and it's been a blast every time. If you're afraid for your friends safety at these parties, be the DD and make the decision to go home. Get your own drinks, dont leave your drink unattended, and exercise a bit of discretion. Someone here got raped as well and an entire frat lost its affiliation with the school. Take care of yourself. I've gone to big university's to party, and look out for some female friends of mine, one night one of my female friends was passed out, hammered, in a bed, this random dude tried going in to the room and waking her up, i came in and told him that he should sleep on the couch, i slept on the floor to make sure none of that shit happened to her. ( i believe that was this random dudes intentions) he was drunk and when i told him to sleep on the couch he was ok with that, hes like "sorry bro". in the morning i was talking to my female friend and told her about the guy, and shes like "are you kidding me, i was blacked out, I couldn't comprehend anything anyone was saying to me" she was very thankful that i looked out for her.keep an eye out for your friends, i cannot stand when girls are taken advantage of. it is unacceptable. I understand that not every situation is a case of rape...the last 3 or 4 that were reported here where stupid girls getting back at an ex-bf. But its the fact that this stuff cannot be let go. No one asks to be raped...even if they get so trashed they are no longer in control. I also strongly suggest if these are the people you hang out with, you do one of two things. One find new friends, these people you are hanging out with, will only bring you down. Two if you dont want to find new friends take a stand against your friends doing anything they shouldn't be and help keep them in control of drinking. My roommate and I are very heavy drinkers on weekends but there is never once, without a doubt that we let people in our place that may cause a problem, we are also always no matter how trashed we are, we are always paying attention to everyone else's safety. Ive seen ppl get hit by it and it works wonders . About the drinking too much and blacking out in a strangers home, not paying attention to your ddrink/letting random ppl get you a drink.....wow are people really this stupid? omgitsjimmy Posted October 6, 2009 Share Posted October 6, 2009 don't carry pepper spray or any weapons if you plan on drinking. and yes people are really that stupid (though in some people's opinion, its still NEVER the girl's fault they get raped for drinking that much and putting themselves in that situation). Drink with better friends, make alcohol/drug classes mandatory for freshman especially if they get caught minor in possession. people probably won't pay attention anyway, but the school should be pro-active about it.
