Hookie The Hookah
QUOTE (SynysterPhoenix @ Oct 9 2009, 02:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I tried it with 2 coals, works fine, but I was curious as to what would happen with 3. Tried it and have not regret that decision yet. This intrigues me.
Barnaby
I've found that 2 cocos on my small phunnel w/ tangiers, takes MUCH more effort to get going.. I'm constantly rotating, and using the windcover to get it going, and often times, its not the thickest smoke. cutting them in half does help with using 2 coals, but this is an extra step I usually don't like to make. 3 cocos works fine, but you need to hang them off alot, and sometimes put them on their side. after a bit, you can move them in. Chiefin
3 full size cocos on a small tangiers phunnel is where I've had success. Hookah size has not mattered...Smoking tangiers is about the overall BOWL temp, and isn't contingent on where the coals physically touch the shisha. Too few coals keeps the bowl from heating up to the temp it needs to be at, however you're still scorching the shisha under the coal, which is where you're getting the burning from. Man up to three and power through it...definitely worth it once it gets going.
DJelimu
I use 2 Exotica Gold (pre-cuts) better for Tangiers......
momatik
For those saying that 3 works well, do you guys see smoke coming out of the coal when you first put the coals on?That is what concerns me when I put the coals on. I see a bunch of smoke coming out of the bowl and I get nervous as hell.No one else notices this?
Hookie The Hookah
Yeah, that happens to me no matter what. I tried the three coals and it works well enough, gotta keep them hanging off the side for a while though...
momatik
I'm gonna try 3 coals next time. We'll see.
redjako
QUOTE (Stuie @ Oct 8 2009, 03:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Cut them in half. I have had better luck with it so far.Agreed. On my medium I need 2-3 HALVES of coco's (busted post-lit with some garden snips), or only ONE full coco on it..and then its still hard to manage.Bust em in half, you'll love em.And coco's need to be GLOWING orange (top AND bottom) before you place em. The taste of coal-shit will be their otherwise.
