Tyler
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idU...0091009?sp=trueObama wins a Nobel Peace Prize after being nominated no more than 4 weeks into his term...why? He had a vision of no nuclear powers in the world. A vision. Wow. I have a vision too, can I win one? It's more likely that he won one because he's not president Bush, and I'm not Bush, can I win one too? How about his uniting the USA? Nope, failed. How about keeping all his promises? Nope, failed. How about his vow to not raise taxes, nope failed. How about for keeping peace with all UN members? Lets give them a book and shake their hand and act like we're bffs no matter the history or world view. Lets denounce our own affiliation with the world's most persecuted religion (currently). Yeah, seems like he deserved that peace prize alright! Next week I get mine, too. Why? I had a vision, too.

Tyler
Just when I thought the Peace Prize committee couldn't be even more of a joke by giving it to Al Gore, they give it to Obama, touche committee, touche indeed.PS: committee is a weird word to type, you feel like you're making a typo typing all those double letters lol. Evilsquirrel
Al Gore is a quack, everyone knows there's global warming, its been happening for thousands of years, we're gonna get to a point where its gonna get colder too, and that will be global cooling and everyone will freak out about that.(ever heard of the ice age?) At least Bush half-ass protected the country, Obama probably thinks we deserve to get terrorist attacks. He thinks America is a piece of shit because of our past history. I wonder what would have happened if there wasn't Acorn stuffing the boxes? I doubt he would have been elected.I'm so happy I can vote this year, I'm gonna do my part to try to get that piece of shit scumbag Harry Reid out of office. TheScotsman
It is yet one more thing that makes him look like a useless twitt. Ah, but then he joins a long list of people that were awarded a nobel not as a result of their actions, but asNominations ended 2 weeks into his term. After he accomplished, well, hmmmmm..... let me think..... jackshit, except his "world apology tour v1.0"I guess he deserves it, he joins the ranks of other finely unsuccessful lefties like jimmy carter, mohammad elbaradi, UN peacekeeping forces (is that an oxymoron, or what?), yasser arafat, and algore. It almost seems his name must be at the top of that long list of fools.I find great humor in it.The middle of the road independents seem to be more offended by it than any of us on the right. After all, we have become used to exceptional stupidity. Just wait for the self-praising he will do, that's gotta be worth watching.
destructo
back in the day nobel prizes actually meant something. now its all political. it use to mean devote your whole life to trying to get your country back from some other nation nonviolently, or spending your whole life trying to get your people equal rights and eventually getting shot in the face for it. or even being a political prisioner for 20 years because of the wrong skin color. now all you have to do is fly around the world crying about manbear pig or getting all of leftwing america to mindlessly follow you on the abstract idea of change. What happened to pulling out of iraq? what happened to transparent government? obama has less for world peace than i have. at least i didnt piss off a nation of bible thumpers and delusionals. But then again what do you expect for a non scientific award?
NIGHTS OF BAGHDAD
he cant just pull out of iraq, they haven't succeeded anything..they will be laughing stocks of the world..if they arnt already for what they did, they had no business going into iraq..the war was in afghan, i bet anyone right now the powers that be wish saddam was still alive to go back to iraq and keep the terrorist under control..these phucks went into iraq, thinking all they had to do was remove saddam and paradise would rain freely all over iraq..they had no phuckin clue what they got themselves into..saddam kept all these terrorist phucks in iraq under control they all feared him..once they removed saddam now you see the real iraq..so theres no way the us pulls out they want to see some kind of return out of all this..they thought it was gona be like desert storm and shit..stormin normin bs..lol

destructo
hate to break it to you but we already are the laughing stocks of the world. this is an insult to Ghandi, Pope john paul, and others i probably missed who never got an award. and its an even bigger insult to people like mother teresa, the dali lama, MKL, Nelson Mandela and others. all this was is a kiss ass for norways parliament to obama. if anything obama caused MORE problems in the world. because everyone in the US is all butthurt over everything
Tyler
At least he admitted he didn't deserve it for his actions. And I think the fact that anyone has won it based on what they're "going to do" or "want to do" is just BS. A conservative president will never win it. Stuie
How do you think the Nobel Fund is funded these days.... You have to BUY YOUR Nobel Prize... Gore, Obama.... it should be given to the people that do real good like Ghandi.Just because they give it out every year that doesn't mean they have too. "No Peace Prize will be given out this year. No one really lived up to the standards of Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela.... Good luck next year, world."
destructo
Ghandi never got it. he was nominated in 48 then someone killed him and they dont award it to dead people. same thing with pope john paul and that other pope that i forget his name. the peace prize is a joke anyway
delSol_si
This just gives me another reason I hate the US. As far as I can tell, Obama hasn't done shit. Pretty sure our countries problems are getting worse, not better. I guess they give Nobel Peace prizes to idiots now. I didn't vote for him so I can complain all I want. I didn't like the other guy, but he sucked less.

Balthazar
Hey guys. On behalf on the Norwegian people, I would like to inform you about this .... It's a joke. We're laughing our asses of over here, because giving the prize to your commander in chief makes about as much sense as giving it to Mugabe. So yeah ... (On a more serious note, I was hoping Piedad Córdoba would get it, but since the peace prize has next to nothing to do with peace I'm not at all surprised) Edited October 9, 2009 by Balthazar

Rani
I'm not on the committee and neither is anyone else here so we really don't know how he ended up with it. I understand you have to be nominated by a group, reasons for your nomination given and then voting occurs through process of elimination. I'm neutral on it because like I said I'm not on the committee. So I don't know beyond any doubt how it came to be and therefore I'm not going to mouth off about it. But I would suggest people check their facts by claiming Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela weren't honored. Here's the entire list since it's inception and they're both on it. Among others. I think we should accept that it's an honor to have a sitting president be awarded the prize, will increase some connections with the rest of the world and leave the whys and wherefores to the peiple who were actually there to do the voting.OSLO, Norway, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- List of Nobel Peace Prize winners:2009 -- Barack Obama, United States2008 -- Martti Ahtisaari, Finland2007 -- Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Switzerland; Al Gore, United States2006 -- Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh; Grameen Bank, Bangladesh2005 -- International Atomic Energy Agency, Austria; Mohamed ElBaradei, Egypt2004 -- Wangari Maathai, Kenya2003 -- Shirin Ebadi, Iran2002 -- Jimmy Carter, United States2001 -- United Nations, Kofi Annan, Ghana2000 -- Kim Dae-jung, South Korea1999 -- Doctors without Borders, Switzerland1998 -- John Hume, United Kingdom; David Trimble, United Kingdom1997 -- International Campaign to Ban Landmines, United States; Jody Williams, United States1996 -- Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo, East Timor; Jose Ramos-Horta, East Timor1995 -- Joseph Rotblat, United Kingdom; Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, Canada1994 -- Yasser Arafat, Palestinian Territories; Shimon Peres, Israel; Yitzhak Rabin, Israel1993 -- Nelson Mandela, South Africa; F.W. de Klerk, South Africa1992 -- Rigoberta Menchu Tum, Guatemala1991 -- Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma1990 -- Mikhail Gorbachev, Soviet Union1989 -- The 14th Dalai Lama, Tibet1988 -- U.N.
