Washables Comparison

Recommended Posts

Well next week i should own the following:

Narbish
Nammor
Razan
Razan Abu Mahir
Grand Caravan

I am going to create a comparison of all three hoses, and wanted to know from you guys what i should be testing for, ease of pull, smoke size, aesthetics, etc. Ive spent over $100 on these hoses, mostly because im the kind of person that likes to try everything first before i figure out my favorites. Also let me know if there are any other washables on the market, ill buy them and test those too.

I have most of those. They all smoke the same. Slight differences in style of the tips. I actually prefer the ones that flare out a bit at the tip where you pull from. It enables you to be lazy and hold it in your teeth while you open another beer. tongue.gif

Build quality seems to be the best on the Grand, but I don't like the velvety stuff on the hose.

I've had both a Narbish and a Razan completely fall apart but salvaged them with some glue and electrical tape. Have not tried a Nammor yet but hear it's almost identical to the Razan.

I don't know much about the Abu Mahir other than it's more expensive.

for testing, i'd like to see:

Build Quality/Durability
Pull/Resistance
Resistance to Ghosting after washing

that's really all you can test on...aesthetics is subjective...

Thank you for being the only person to answer my main question.

You should get one of Al Fakher's "healthy" hoses. I believe they're washable too.

Also, John's narbishes are currently falling apart.. the V1 version is. The V2 version is heavily glued together, so it should be better.

Also, supposedly Nammor hoses are currently falling apart too. I think this new batch of them is using the same shoddy glue that John's V1 narbishes used. I think it's to same on money or something.

Razan I have no clue about. They seem to be good hoses.

I also own a Grand Washable, which has so far been the best hose. That and my old nammor I bought a year ago when they were still "good". Both of these hoses are the best on the market. I haven't heard anything about a grand falling apart yet. Edited by JDHarding

I think what I'd like to see researched is the Ghosting (if that's what I think it is), because evidently hoses don't stay as clean as I wish they would. I'm definitely not a fan of those nice little Scoobie Snacks I'm getting out of my buddy's hoses. I'm thinking about going to town on those hoses, washable or not...

Scoobie snacks.. lol.. gross. He's not shoving dog treats into his hoses, is he?

I got Nakhla coffee ghosting in mine.. I'm smoking Guava now.. but it's like.. it's better with that ghosting coffee, y'know? Maybe I should mix coffee and guava together. Edited by JDHarding

Ghosting and scoobie snacks are two entirely different things. Ghosting is when a flavor stays where as scoobie snacks are physical chunks of ash or in this case probably rust

Glad I know the difference now. Thanks! Is there any way to make ghosting go away, or over time does the hose just develop its own "flavor"? I'd say so, considering the material's porous.

non-washable hoses tend to retain flavors if they're not let to air out long enough...

this can be a good thing or bad thing...if you save one hose for one flavor, like mint, and use that hose repeatedly...the mint flavor will ghost and you should have a more intense minty session...
